Someone people like me have severe health anxiety, I can’t even go into the health section to post mental health posts because discussions of cancer seriously causes me anxiety. Could we have a separate area to discuss mental health? |
You want a forum to discuss not discussing something? |
This is a great idea OP. |
I have rejected this idea in the past for a number of reasons but I will continue to consider it. But, I am not likely to create such a forum in the immediate future.

Dangerous idea, in my opinion, as few if any readers and posters are properly qualified to counsel those suffering mental health issues. Have to be careful dispensing legal or medical advice. |
I'm just curious what aspect of mental health do you want to post about? How it affects parenting could go in general parenting, your ability to work could go in jobs and careers, the state of your home could go in relationships or family, or home improvement. If you're having delusions how are they most affecting you, then post in that topic about it.
Supplements/diet to help could go in diet & fitness as an aspect of wellness, activities that make healthy mental health more sustainable would probably be fine in off topic. If you want to discuss a psychiatric diagnosis as it's own topic, health and medicine would be the way, but there are plenty of appropriate ways to discuss mental health in pretty much any of the forums. |
Why wouldn't the discussions of health anxiety just trigger additional health anxiety? |
So do I, OP. I don’t go into the health forum often because of it. |
This. The "helpful advice" tends to stay in narrow channels like "divorce him!" or "cut mom off completely!" with very little effort to understand the particular's of an OP's situation and even less nuance. With a heavy dose of long paragraphs about the posters' own struggles that may or may not have any bearing on OP's issues. Well, I suppose any forum that corrals the embittered/entitled adult children and gets them off other threads might be helpful to the rest of us. |
I am surprised there is not a mental health section too.
Should at least have one for adults, teens and children. Too many other locations topics could be in to search and last time I checked there is not way to search entire site. |
I have a difficult time imagining how any discussion would be possible unless everything was written in coded language to avoid triggering anyone. |
