Teachers, stop sending emails that CC all the parents in the class. That is leaking private information, and inviting a Reply-All storm of parents arguing with each other.
Put the email addresses in the BCC field. |
| Don’t be a tease. What are people arguing about? |
| Maybe just email the teacher back on a new message: “In the future please use the BCC field for parent emails. I prefer that my personal contact information not be released to other parents, and I also prefer not to receive the replies to the original message. Thank you.” |
| Maybe the teacher was looking for ideas and input because she thought she was emailing adults. |
It's not a good practice but maybe parents could also not argue with each other in reply alls? Act like adults. |
| The teachers seem to communicate through apps more often now, which should cut down on some of this. |
It's not the teacher's place to invite parents to email other parents without their consent. |
+1 what is so private about your email address? If you care so much, create an email address that doesn't have your name etc and is different from what you usually use. People are so self-important about minor things. |
|
A lot of teachers do this and I like it because it helps the parents communicate with each other.
What is your problem? |
I have never seen a "Reply-All storm" of parents arguing in this situation and it's an accepted practice at our school. But this is also a school where almost everyone opts in to the directory so it's a friendly group that isn't intent on hiding their email addresses from eveyone else and is afraid of fellow parents. |
| OP we've never had this problem in our kids' schools. How many teachers have you had this experience with? |
As a teacher, I have been doing this for literal decades at this point. I have never seen or heard about parents arguing back on forth nor have I ever had a parent express a concern or ask to opt out. OP, this sounds like a you problem. |
Sure it is. If you don't like it, get a throw away email. What a piece of work you are! |
| Some emails, like Gmail accounts, block emails with address in BBC. |
GMail and other reputable systems don't block bcc messages unless they're from otherwise suspect sources. |
