If you were a short child, did you end up becoming a short adult?

Similar idea as the post about tall children. If you were consistently small in elementary school, did you end up a short adult?

Yes- 5’3” and I don’t recall shooting up to that great height early or anything.

Yes. My father is short. My husband is short, and so my short kids will be short adults. Paternal genes are predominant in this respect.

And that's perfectly fine, OP.

Of course!

Yes, although I shot up 6” in 6th grade and went from insanely shorter than anyone else to about as short as the other very short people.

Yes I’m a midget

Yes, I was a short child and now I'm a short adult.

No. I was the shortest kid in my class every year in elementary. I am now average height for a woman (5'4"). For a long time I still thought of myself as short, though, and it was only after numerous people told me as an adult that I was weird for saying I was short, that I eventually figured out that I wasn't. It was just hard to shake this identity that had been deeply engrained in me as who I am throughout my childhood. Even in HS, people referred to me a short or little, even though by then I now realize I was probably approaching average and actually had friends who were shorter than I was for the first time. I'm not sure why my growth spurts just kind of went unnoticed. Maybe they were too gradual.

It for my DS. He was always shortest in class as a kid. He’s now 5’10”.

Also want to note that my kid is also the shortest in her class, but she's also the youngest in her grade so it makes more sense (I was middle of the pack, age-wise). She is small for her age, too, though (20th percentile) so there's more likelihood she'll just be a small, and short, adult. But given my own experience, I'm not counting her out!

Yes I was always short. I remember being at the front of all school plays.

It's funny listening to adults talking about their growth spurt or how their legs ached as they grew... I actually don't ever remember a growth spurt. I'm 5'1.

I really love being short though. It's one of my favorite things about myself, but I'm female. I'm sure I'd feel differently if I were a 5'1 male.

I’ve seen it go both ways.

My brother was a short, scrawny kid until later in high school, then shot up to 6’.

My SIL was a tiny child and is a pretty tiny adult.

Yes all of my friends who were short as kids (male and female)are all still short. Between 5'0 to 5'4.

I think of you as short, PP, and I’d venture to say so do many others.

I’m 5’3” and while we’re not super short, we are in fact short.
