| Only interested in stovetop tea kettles, nothing electric. |
| We've had a Chantal tea kettle since we got married 20 years ago and it's worked fine. |
| Why? |
| We had a sori yanagi that was great, but I switched to a gooseneck electric kettle and find it more convenient. |
|
I’ve had this one in blue for over 10 years and am very happy with it.

I’ve had this Alessi kettle for 20 years. I love it so much. I’m one of the DCUM poors (nanny) and always saw this in my employers homes. I bought a new one on Craigslist for $35. Don’t think the person knew what they had!!

Graves made a version of this kettle for Target years ago and I wish I had bought one then! We have an ikea tea kettle that works great. It holds a lot of water and I like the sound of its whistle when the water boils. I originally bought it as a stopgap when we got an induction range and couldn’t use our old one anymore, but I like it so much that I’ve never replaced it. |
| Le Crueset. It’s sturdy, attractive, and the handle does not get hot. |
| I have the Fellow Stagg gooseneck kettle. Capacity could be better, but I like it. We drink both tea and pour-over coffee. https://www.crateandbarrel.com/fellow-stagg-matte-black-stovetop-pour-over-tea-kettle/s204115?localedetail=US&srsltid=AfmBOopoodG5rcvve7SL6NWEvELJqeSNfUW8_SiN4fzReQA7szUluqTLHfM |
Same model and color that I bought my then new-wife in 2009. Still whistling. |

these all look great
if i went electric, any electric kettles you'd recommend? with an electric kettle, i am worried about safety in a house with little kids. obviously i won't leave it unattended but the idea of having a huge amt of boiling water just sitting on the countertop is worrisome |
| OP here, i bought a chantal kettle that happened to be on sale at target for 9 dollars. Attractive and does the job |
Are you kids able to reach the counter? If not, set it back on the counter and make sure no cords are dangling and it’s no more dangerous than a knife block on the counter or a pot on the stove. If they can reach the counter, they should be old enough to understand not to touch it, just like the hot stove or the knife block. I have a Krups gooseneck electric kettle - I chose stainless steel for aesthetics and to avoid heating plastic. It’s probably discontinued now as it’s at least 10 years old. You can set the temperature and it will keep the water at the same temp for 20 min, which is great because I almost always refill my mug of tea when I’m done. |
| Hario Gooseneck kettle. Plus that it is made in Japan. |

I have this one. It's very sturdy
