Official Brett Kavanaugh Thread, Part 5

I also experienced a sexual assault before age 18. I’d like to say I was at the Capital today with my story, and making my voice heard, but I wasn’t. I’m not strong enough or brave enough to talk about it. The only people I have been able to tell are my husband, my therapist and my best friend. My husband and best friend know that I was assaulted, but not the details. My therapist knows the details because I have written them down. I can’t talk to her about it. So I write to her about it. I still can’t say the words 25 years later. I still have nightmares.

What Susan Collins did today was cruel. She could have been a yes all along and not created the buildup. She could have left it at announcing a yes this morning, like Flake or Sasse, and moved on without the drama. I hate their decisions, but they weren’t personal they way Collins’s was. She could have discussed his record and their discussions..
I really don’t understand why Susan Collins would say she believes Dr. Ford— except she doesn’t believe the part about the attempted rape. That she believes sexual assault is important— just not important enough to actually do anything. While making a production of being the person responsible for ramming Kavanaugh through Congress. Her speech was an extra special f#ck you to #MeToo.

I wouldn’t understand the cruelty if a man did it either. But it seemed more personal coming from a woman. I saw a tweet that called it worlds slowest, longest middle finger to sexual assault survivors. And it was.

This is certainly why I have never been able to talk about it. Because I know that she’s saying what most people think.

It was very hard to hear Dr. Fords testimony, and it has been a hard ten day. Susan Collins made sure the knife was jammed in as far as possible and twisted.

These are liberal tears. Literally. This lib concedes. I have been owned. Congrats. I hope you feel better than I do.

Hugs to you. I hear you and I believe you.

Wow, Collins. That was very disappointing.

I just pledged $50 to her future opponent, assuming she runs again. It was cathartic. The total is currently above $2.2 mil, aiming for $4 mil.

You’re trying to buy a political seat of a senator? I don’t know what to say.

Yes, with my $50 I am trying to “buy a political seat of a senator.” People are allowed to donate money to whom they want. Were you not aware of how it works? You’ll be amazed to know then, that you can donate your own money to Collins, to “buy” her a senate seat

Uh Collins is a sitting US Senator.

Susan Rice has tweeted that she may be interested in running against Collins in 2020. You realize that Susan Collins’ seat is not a lifetime position, right?

I feel awesome. For years, we sat with our morals and our integrity while you scum went as low as you needed to. We finally learned how the game is played. Kavanaugh may be appointed, but he’ll never be safe. We don’t even need to impeach him. All we have to do is keep reminding the public that he is damaged goods, a partisan hack, someone who’s judgment can’t be trusted. Every 5-4 decision that swings Trump’s way is proof that K is corrupt.

This might haved worked in 1954. Today we have the 24-hour news cycle. The public will be by and large bored with K in a week’s time. So will you, in fact. At most you may post a few FB or Twitter jabs when an important decision comes out. But you won’t even be bothered to read the opinions.

Who’s Bart?

Bart O’Kavanaugh. He is the guy who made up the drinking game “Devils Triangle.” He unfortunately also assaulted multiple women. Good thing he is not related to this asshole who is getting jammed onto the Supreme Court.

Bart is screwed though. He might think this will all blow over and people will forget. But his pasty ass is going to get dragged for decades. As long as he is on the Court, people will know he is a criminal and will never let him forget it. Sucks to be Bart.

Murkowski will vote "present" tomorrow so that Daines can stay at his daughter's wedding. It won't change the outcome and is a nice gesture.

Just as “Santorum” is now synonymous with anal lube, so will “Kavanaugh” be synonymous with rape. Hope you’re proud of yourself, Bart.

Murkowski - she'll now go down in history. So impressed by her. And loved hearing her explain her vote.

Can’t the official Kavanaugh 6 thread just be copies of all of the posts that said, no way, no how in the first 5?

Because the Nobel Prize was awarded to the Yazidi woman who advocates for rape victims and the Congolese doctor who repairs their damaged bodies, there were many horrific stories on the news as I drove home. Particularly appalling were the victims whose genitalia were torn out with bayonets and women who were sold so often as sex slaves that they suffered multiple times miscarriages in a year. Sexual violence against people is hortible, but people may finally be paying attention.

Me, too; I’m so sorry for all of this. For all of this repulsive, cruel theater.

It also bothers me deeply that Collins was scathing and dishonest regarding Swetnick’s unpursued claim, and wholly ignored Debbie Ramirez. So cruel and unnecessary, all of it. But very revealing. Only a white professor, who presents as girlish and sweet and credible, even warranted comment. A Latina Yale graduate described multiple times as unfailingly honest, is totally ignored. A woman regarded as not quite of the Dr. Ford class, who wasn’t a private school kid, is treated as garbage. As an outrage.

What decent person does this?
