The FBI will do some sort of sham investigation and then they will ram Kavanaugh through

He really should not have lied about the piddly stuff yesterday--definitions of terms like boof and Devil's Triangle. Claiming he's never blacked out. Trying to say that his ralphing rep was because of his weak stomach relating to anything (not just drinking). Those are ridiculous lies that will undo him. Because once it's proven you can assume anything he might say is a lie.

None of this excuses his tantrum. And he proved himself biased. He is unfit to be on SCOTUS. If a democratic appointment did that, you would be losing your mind.

Imagine if Hillary did that.

Women can never have that level of emotion! Look how bad people ripped Dr. Ford for just having a shaky voice!!!

Every time Ford and Kavanaugh dodged a question, in one chart

There were several noticeable differences between the Senate testimony of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and the woman accusing him of sexual assault, Christine Blasey Ford.

The most obvious was the tone each took. Ford was polite and quiet in recounting her accusation against Kavanaugh; he was angry and loud in his denials of the allegations against him.

Beyond the style of their testimonies, there was a striking difference in the content of their words. Both Ford and Kavanaugh fielded questions from senators and the prosecutor hired by Republicans, Rachel Mitchell.

But only Ford made an effort to answer every single question.

Kavanaugh actively dodged questions. He often repeated the same non-answer over and over. Other times, he insisted on answering a question with “context” — which inevitably was a long story about his childhood — but never actually answered the question.

We went through the transcript of the hearing and noted every single time a question was asked of Ford and Kavanaugh. (We didn’t include the times a questioner didn’t ask an explicit question.) Then we noted every instance in which answered the question or said they didn’t know the answer — and we also noted every time they either refused to answer or gave an answer that didn’t address the question. Here are the results:

I love internet. So this article documents the actual transcript in a format you can visually tell the kind of testimony CBF and BK provided. Someone would "love beer" a lot tonight!

Does anyone else think that its possible Brett Kavanaugh simply cannot remember the incident because it had zero impact on his life at the time and because obviously, he was very drunk when it happened?

I used to believe this until I saw him yesterday. Yesterday he looked like someone enraged because at some level he was ashamed and was lashing out.

He was enraged - and rightfully so. Apparently this country has devolved into guilty until proven innocent. I’d be enraged also, as would anyone falsely accused.

Senate Republicans said Friday that they have asked the White House to order the FBI to investigate Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh before a Senate confirmation vote is held.

"The supplemental FBI background investigation would be limited to current credible allegations against the nominee and must be completed no later than one week from today," the Senate Judiciary Committee said in a statement.

Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, said "there's going to be a supplemental FBI background investigation" of Kavanaugh, who faces several allegations of sexual misconduct. Cornyn, the majority whip, spoke after he and several other key Senate Republicans met with Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.

So this is official. But what does the bolded statement means? What is credible allegations. Allegations are allegations, right? Unless it is investigated how would they know what is credible and what is not? Or may be this GOP speak to say they would only investigate Dr. Ford's claim and ignore the other two?

You realize that the FBI has probably received many allegations about Kavanaugh and will probably receive many more over the next week. This is beside the ones that have made it into the press. The FBI gets many, many leads reported to them about any figure in the public eye. I believe that the statement is meant to include only those that are currently known/made and only those that seem to have some truth that can reasonbly be investigated. It means that they are supposed to vet any allegations and investigate any that seems like they may actually be relevant. So they can toss out the ones where he's accused of something in a town he has never lived in or visited, or ones that took place in the wrong time (say at Yale when he was already working in DC). And it means if they feel that there are enough contradictions in an existing allegation that they can drop that allegation and focus on the ones that can be researched. This is to stop having new allegations pop up every day or two and trying to extend the investigation period like a filibuster.

Are they trying to ram him through to get his vote on Gamble vs. US so Trump can pardon all the participants?!

Thank you! It is excusable that he didn't answer questions since he was so upset about being wrongfully accused. Ford answered all of the questions because mere sexual assault and attempted murder are NBD.

I think he was enraged because he is indigent and feels entitled as his 45-minute memoir reading yesterday revealed. He feels a seat on the Supreme Court is his birthright and the idea that he will be told "no" it beyond understanding. Plus, I think he was advised that belligerent indignation worked for Clarence Thomas and it might work for him too.

Gosh but he was RIGHT THERE! They could ask him questions then! It would be just like a FBI investigation but better, since the FBI don't make conclusions!

He was so full of shit, it explains all those weird expressions he made.

They should seek therapy and protest through legal channels rather than harassing and cornering an innocent man in an elevator. Excuse me if I don’t think that these bullies were heroes. And BTW, I say this as a sexual assault victim.

They didn’t harass him!!! We still live in a world where we can speak to our elected officials!! Giving your opinion to an elected official is actually a part of the franchise of democracy!

You must be joking. This woman and her minions got up in Flake's face, *screaming* at him. They absolutely harassed him and I can't believe people like that are allowed in the building, much less allowed to approach lawmakers in that way. Plenty of guards were just standing around and no one pulled her away from Flake. What a lunatic. If she wanted to "speak" to her elected officials, she should have done so respectfully. But she didn't even come close.

Did Kavanaugh speak to elected representatives respectfully yesterday? Nope.

If you accused ME of doing what he’s been accused of doing...and then I had to sit down in front of a room full of people who had just finished telling my accuser “I believe you” without hearing me emphatically deny the accusations first, I think “respectful” would be a pretty difficult time for me to strike.

That is funny because many people go to court EVERY DAY to defend themselves - actual court where the stakes are million times higher than he faced here. Not getting his dream job??? Sorry, no. How about people facing the death penalty, life in prison, losing custody of their kids? Any defendant would be thrown out of court for contempt if they did what he did, and as a judge, he knows it.

Don't fall for the faux outrage.

1-it’s not a trial but he IS being accused of a very serious crime so expecting him to not be irritated and be respectful to the nastiness of the senators who are taking the accusation as gospel is ridiculous. Further, the case would never actually make it to trial bc no time/place/witnesses/evidence make it an impossible case for any prosecutor to try! Bc you know...that silly burden of proof thing and all)....but 2)—IF it did go to trial he would be able to be calm to the jury bc jury would not have cheered on the accuser with accolades and affirmations of “I believe YOU!” Prior to defendant being called to the stand to testify.
You are the one who (erroneously) compared this to a trial.
It was not. It was a disgusting, political circus!

+1,000
The whole debacle is sickening. This knee jerk dismissal of him and his denial of the (unsubstantiated) allegations is repulsive. If there was any evidence, it might be a different matter. But there’s not. Simply a wholesale rush to judgment of a man who has done many good things in his life. Unfortunately, even if his name is cleared, the only results his daughters will ever find about him on Google are that of a sexual assault accusation. Unbelievable.
