Why is the media not covering ICE resistance in LA?

ICE detentions of people with no criminal records are up nearly 900 percent over the same period last year.

illegal immigration is a crime.

It's a misdemeanor the same as a speeding ticket.

Also, what's your defense of the ICE agents arresting immigrants at their immigration court appointments? You know, the process of getting citizenship the RIGHT WAY. The way that all you bootlickers said immigrants should do.

They are MAGA and proud to be terrible humans.

OK. Tell us.... what other laws is it ok to break?

Laws against.....
Theft? Petty larceny? Shoplifting? Assault? Murder?

Which laws are not important enough to enforce? Give us details.

If your child was critically injured and there was no emergency service nearby, would you drive the speed limit to get them to the nearest hospital? Or would you get them there as quickly as possible and deal with the legal consequences later?

OK. You have come up with an instance where one might break traffic laws. Although, most people would say wait for an ambulance or police because the last thing you would want to do is get into a traffic accident speeding down the road.
But, that is not a good example of why an illegal alien would break our laws and enter illegally.

People who enter illegally need to be deported. It is a crime to enter illegally. And many here have committed multiple crimes. Arrest them, detain them and deport them.

And arresting illegal aliens outside the courtroom is the safest way for all concerned. If sanctuary cities didn’t exist many of the tactics used by ICE wouldn’t be necessary.

It is a misdemeanor to enter illegally.

It’s a civil offense to be here illegally.

https://www.findlaw.com/legalblogs/criminal-defense/is-illegal-immigration-a-crime-improper-entry-v-unlawful-presence/

This is much ado about nothing and is just cover for white supremacy and a point to normalize authoritarianism.

I don’t really give a damn about your thoughts. It is a crime to enter the US illegally. We have laws. These people have broken them.
Others are doing it the right way - they are doing the paperwork and paying the fees and waiting their turns.

I’m truly sick of the people here who will say pretty much anything to justify illegal immigration. You are the problem. We have probably upward of 40 million people present illegally because nobody wants to go to the effort of finding and deporting people who have broken our laws. It’s about damn time someone is doing it.

Np here. The pp is not posting their thoughts. It is fact. It is a misdemeanor for a reason. When people are fleeing violence and murder with their families, we don’t actually want to stop them from doing so. But we do want to hold them accountable for getting through the process once they are here. Therefore, it is a misdemeanor. This is the unspoken part. We never expected the “tired, poor, and huddled masses” to have fees paid and paperwork in hand.

Every president goes to the effort to deport. You only know about Trump’s efforts because he is the only one who does it for the TV ratings. Obama was known as Deporter in Chief. I don’t think that was his favorite nickname/title. It is Trump’s dream to be called that. If you care so much about the numbers, please compare actual, verified deportation numbers- not the arbitrary, ridiculous numbers Trump spews with absolutely no evidence. The real numbers will surprise you.

What we NEED is immigration reform. Long term solutions. This is what Biden tried to focus on, but this country doesn’t have the patience for long-term solutions. We just want to compare scores and feel like our “team” is “winning”. We don’t want both teams to be successful. We want our team to win while the other falls flat on its face, even at the detriment of the country and our children’s future.

Regarding the bolded.....That is NOT what happened the past 4 years and you damn well know it. If they were "fleeing violence and murder" they would have gone to the nearest country to claim asylum. They didn't. Instead, they RISKED violence and murder by paying the cartels to come into the US.

Well then, I guess the entire boarder is much ado about nothing. Why even have it per your logic.

At least I can be comforted that there are not that many posters who are this dumb about immigration and pro authoritarianism. This moron keeps spelling border as "boarder" throughout the politics board, a good tell.

Guess they went to one of those hoity toity HADES boarding schools.

Sure, this is going to include some bad actors. It is the president’s job to find those bad actors and get them out while providing a path for those who are genuinely here for a better life. Remember all those gang members and rapists Trump set his sights on? It also would increase investment in mechanization and automation. There will be a time of higher costs increased food prices but when things settle, they should stabilize.

However, on a broader level, I find this entire situation absurd. The United States has become far too reliant on migrant labor, having half of the agricultural workforce undocumented. We need to ask ourselves why this is the case. It ain’t because this is "work Americans won't do". It's entirely because, for over 40 years, corporations have been allowed to exploit cheap imported labor, keeping wages for these jobs disgustingly low sometimes even below the federal minimum wage.

There are plenty of Americans who would be willing to do this work, but not for $12 an hour under the sweltering sun of Texas. Offer $30 an hour plus benefits to harvest lettuce, and you would see plenty of people lining up for those jobs. The problem lies in the fact that neither Democrats nor Republicans have taken meaningful action for decades. BOTH sides have allowed "big ag" to exploit these workers, paying pennies per box harvested perpetuating this cycle of exploitation, and doing so in such a way that if it were to ever dare end, suddenly panic, omg, our foods gonna rot and we're all gonna die of starvation because we cant afford food! They have caught you in this line of thinking, so they will always get their cheap, exploitive labor.

In my opinion, the widespread abuse of migrant labor over the past four decades is a shameful stain on this country. But, just like iPhones and Nike shoes, most people turn a blind eye to the unethical labor practices behind the products they want, so long as the price is low. Just look at OPs post: concerns about "rotting crops" and "skyrocketing prices", and not a single care about the exploitation of these workers. This has been ignored for decades and now that there's a policy threatens to send them home, we just get all up in arms because we might have to pay more.

It’s almost like saying that an economy can’t survive without illegal & low or no cost labor to farm the land. You know who else used that argument????

The Confederacy during the Civil War. Let that sink in.

I totally agree. Those whites from the upper Midwest who started the end of slavery should be made saints. I think the problem is a little deeper than big ag though.

A problem is that even the ones that come here on Visa decide they don't want to work on the farm. They're just like lazy Americans you know. ICE is being protested in LA not Central Valley.

I saw one sitting in an air-conditioned restaurant the other day. Then all the bogus economic arguments can't make any money because dairy and manufacturing aren't seasonal, and they can't hire temporary labor. Can't find skilled labor etc. You can't have labor shortages in all sectors at the same time. Doesn't make any sense. Labor shortages don't make any sense in a free market.

It's globalism, they won't defend borders, but trespass on their property you better watch out. They think they own the means to production. Oh, your schools, pools, libraries and roads, that's just commons you can pay for that.

I was hit by guy on a temporary visa going fifty in a 25 caused a three-car pileup. Government subsidized insurance wouldn't accept the claim had to go to court to get them to pay.

+1000 happens all the time. The temp work “disappears.” The illegal doesn’t know road rules nor car and rams others, runs off, you pay for everything.

The GOP controlled Supreme Court has ruled and affirmed that simply being in the country illegally is not in, and of itself, a crime. So you are starting with a false premise.

Plus why they remitting billions from their illegal cash oat jobs to build new houses for their extended families in their “violent and murderous homeland.” And sending money over for their cousins children’s clothes and Catholic schooling.

They’re here to make more cash per hour and send it back for as long as America’s illegal immigration laws are not enforced and the gravy train continues.

Yesterday, two pick up trucks full of ICE agents, rammed a car with three American citizens in it. Upon discovering that the victims were US citizen, the ICE agents drove away. Guess who is left holding the bag? What was your point?

Did you miss the “no emergency services available“ part? You asked for another example of when one would break a law. If my child was in critical condition, I would absolutely speed, maybe even run a red light, risking a traffic accident to get them to a hospital. Is this an ideal situation? Of course not. Ideally, an ambulance would be available to quickly respond and get my child there safely. But not everyone has the means to take the safest, most legally-sound option.

If you worked in another country, would you not send any money to your family back home?

To really make a lasting difference with immigration, Trump would need to be extremely smart and strategic. He would need to incorporate several agencies and bring in the most qualified people to run those agencies. He would need to cooperate with leaders of other countries. He would need a plan to prioritize criminals and then people who haven’t been here long (see Obama plan). He would need to enlist LE and investigators to find those who are dangerous. He would need to come up with a plan to fill the jobs left behind and to deal with rising cost of groceries (old-fashioned word). He would need to pick up where previous presidents left off and already got the ball rolling.

But he does not have the knowledge, attention span, skills, or respect from experts and leaders that he would need. So instead, we pull parents from their kids. We pull hard-working employees from their job. It all looks the same in tv, so who really cares?

ICE detentions of people with no criminal records are up nearly 900 percent over the same period last year.

illegal immigration is a crime.

It's a misdemeanor the same as a speeding ticket.

Also, what's your defense of the ICE agents arresting immigrants at their immigration court appointments? You know, the process of getting citizenship the RIGHT WAY. The way that all you bootlickers said immigrants should do.

If you really don’t know that millions of people are fleeing horrifying and dangerous conditions in their country and don’t understand why they would come to US instead of going to the nearest country- then your knowledge of the world is seriously lacking. Please learn about the rest of the world outside of what your maga bubble wants you to know/think.

Sure, this is going to include some bad actors. It is the president’s job to find those bad actors and get them out while providing a path for those who are genuinely here for a better life. Remember all those gang members and rapists Trump set his sights on? Why isn’t he out there getting those guys rather than pulling parents from their kid’s 5th grade graduation and amubushing people showing up for their hearings?

My Lord you are clueless.
They came to the US - and paid the cartels a lot of money for doing so. Simply doing that is risking life and safety. Sorry - your argument doesn't cut it.
And, it is not up to the president - or anyone - to provide a path for a better life for those who entered illegally.
If you are unaware of all the gang members and criminals that have been arrested, let me introduce you to one person who is tracking some of the arrests....

And, I presume you are unaware of many of the violent criminal illegal aliens they have arrested in LA the past week.
Here are just a few.

The conservative in me thinks addressing this issue (deporting them) would lead to higher wages and better benefits in the ag sector, which attracts more domestic workers to work in ag.

Yesterday, two pick up trucks full of ICE agents, rammed a car with three American citizens in it. Upon discovering that the victims were US citizen, the ICE agents drove away. Guess who is left holding the bag? What was your point?

Hey, bud. You are lying or wholly uniformed.....Let's hear the real story.....
