| Does anyone have experience with Futstars Academy and their fall trainings? I see the fall training will be coached by ECNL coaches from Arlington and Bethesda. Thanks |
Yes, two of the Arlington coaches, Omar and Oscar, run Futstars and Omar brought in Daniel for the fall clinics. Expectations are that those joining will be ECNL or MLS Next level players, so there is an application process. Good group of both coaches and players. Excellent supplemental training. |
Great, thanks. Should there be concerns that training will be on the same day as games (Sunday)? |
| Great training and also it's how to get your kid looked at by Arlington ECNL since he is the head of all academy teams and heavily recruits from their futstars programs. |
Trainings are at 6:30 in the evening. If your kid plays ECNL or MLS Next, games are seldom this late. But you're likely going to miss one or two on the weekends your team travels. Imagine they would give you credit for a future training or something if you miss more than one because of scheduling conflict. |
I meant that most kids will have already played a game before the session so will fatigue be a limitation? |
Each kid is different. You know your kid best. I know my kid would laugh at this suggestion and say "no". |
Sounds like this supplemental training would also help with your kid's fitness if that's an issue for him/her. |
My kid plays high school before heading over to Club. He has zero issues. This is a kid that will jump on a bike in 90+ degree heat after playing 2 tournament games to go over and play basketball at the park though. Older sibling's body could not do this--his late growth spurt really caused mechanical issues with over-training. |
+1. We went for years and it was really good training. Two of the better coaches in the area. |
| Is this worth it for a U10 (2014) player? It looks like they take applications as young as 2016. And how selective are they for kids too young for ECNL/MLS Next? Will they screen it by whether or not the kid is on a top team? Mine is currently on second team being “watched” for possible movement up to top team at a club that moves kids up and down during the season. |
My advice, do it. Easily some of the best coaches in the area. I wish I had known about this program. |
| Very happy with the training so far. Talented players from across the region. |
| Oscar & Omar are terrific coaches from Arlington and this is a terrific program. My daughter has worked with several Futstars Academy coaches in private sessions the past few years and they are all excellent. Several of the younger coaches play professionally or in college and are great with kids. Emphasis is on footwork in tight spaces, 1v1 attacking & defending, decisionmaking & first touch. Their camps tend to be a boy-heavy, but that’s great for a girl than wants to ramp up their physicality and speed of play. I think they & HP Elite are best non-club training options locally. |
| Seems like almost all of the players are from Arlington. It is competitive as most of the players from the top teams. They have additional coaches for the 5 groups of players. |
