Baby girl names

Anonymous
I’m trying to decide on a name for my baby girl that’s due in November. I’ve decided that her name will start with an A to honor her father. I’ve narrowed it down to Aurora, Alexandra, and Ava but can’t decide which one I want to use. Any thoughts on which name to use? If it’s helpful, her last name is a common name. I open to other A names as well. TIA!

I like Ava. It is more common than the others but it’s my favorite of your 3.

I think Aurora is pretty but hard to say. I like both Alexandra and Ava but don't love either. If you go with Alexandra, you'll need to decide if you are open to nicknames and if so which ones. People will try to shorten that one, so you need to know whether you will hold strong with the full name or promote a particular nn.

Other A names I like:

Alice
Anna
Analiese

Strike Aurora, because it's hard for some people to say.

Alexandra and Ava are probably equally popular, but I like both. Lean toward Alexandra personally because I like names with more nickname potential. Alex, Lexi, Sasha - lots of directions to go with Alexandra vs. Ava.

Congrats!

I love the name Aurora, but this is definitely a concern of mine as well.

I love Analiese! Thanks for the suggestion.

I have a friend named Analiese and I have always loved her name. It's a really nice balance of pretty and strong-sounding.

I would say of those 3, not Aurora.

I think the decision on nn should be up the person who is named. Honestly if they like Alex instead of Alexandra its a you problem

I like Alexandra and Ava. Other A names Audrey, Alice

I like Alexandra best of those 3. What about Annette? I love that name.

It sounds pretty but it would really not be cool to have the word anal in your name.

One of my best friends growing up was named Analise, spelled that way. AFAIK, she was never teased for her name, and I know she loves it.

These are all very pretty. I also like Annelise (this spelling), Annabel, Anna.

Ava is VERY popular. It would be too popular for my taste.

I actually know very few Alexandras. It's a nice name with so many nickname possibilities. You could see what her personality is, and a nickname might arise naturally, or not at all.

I love Amelia and Anastasia for additional A names. Of your list, I like Alexandra the best. Beautiful name without being too popular.
