DC area rank high for confrontational drivers

I spent two weeks not driving or being in traffic due to foreign travel, and returning to the DMV I just feel terrified all the time. People drive so aggressively here. I feel like there is some kind of collective death wish.

Nothing compared to some foreign cities. I'm French and driving in Paris and on the peripherique (beltway) is a special kind of hell.

First, everyone jaywalks. Second, there are so many scooters and motorbikes weaving in and out of traffic and speeding on the lane markers on the beltway. You cannot change lanes without checking for them otherwise you're going to kill one and deal with that hassle. Third, you need good driving etiquette, which requires competitive darting into any available space 2 lanes over and 3 cars forward, and you need to show correct invective when rolling down your window making rude gestures.

The article is about violent behavior, not bad or selfish driving.

I’ve driven all over Europe. Nothing compares to berserk driving in DC and other major metro areas of the US. Europeans don’t drive by our code of conduct, but at least they follow one.

Not surprised about Virginia being ranked #4.

And they are rude, passive-aggressive and clueless.

How can you be passive aggressive when driving?

How can you be passive aggressive when driving?

By going 60 in the left lane.
