Do you do a walk through every night before bed and make sure everything is tidied up and clean? Or do you just leave it for the morning. I am talking about last dishes, folding blankets on the couch, picking up errant toys, etc.
I am anal retentive and need come down in the morning to a clean house. Even if we have a huge party I stay up late and clean every last dish and glass before I go to bed. |
Yes for the most part. My kids are older teens, so if I go to bed and they're still up, sometimes I send a "reminder" to pick up after themselves.
The reminder might be an ass chewing. It just depends on my mood. |
One parent cleans the kitchen and starts the dishwasher while the other handles bedtime. Everything is picked up off the living room floor so the Roomba can run overnight. If we have a party I put all food away, run trash out to the cans, and run the dishwasher as many times as I need to have an empty sink (this is a division of labor thing - DH plans and cooks for parties, I clean up after).
But our house has a lot more than 2 rooms so this is not exactly the spic n span vibe I'm getting from your post. |
I am with you, OP. I walk through the house every night and:
- wash dishes/ load & run dishwasher - wipe down counters, table and chairs - sweep the kitchen/ dining floor (swiffer wet as necessary) - pick up toys on main level, fold blankets, etc. - set coffee pot timer for AM - fold any remaining laundry I have to begin with a fresh start! I hate waking up to a mess. |
eh, I have more energy in the morning. Most nights I do dishes but I am certainly not opposed to having to do them in the morning. |
Yes, I clean up the kitchen, sweep the
floor and straighten up the living room. Started doing this when we had an ant invasion after buying the house and kept it up because it made the mornings nicer. |
OP here - my favorite time is the morning when everyone else is asleep, I can have a nice cup of coffee in quiet and get the morning started. After the kids wake up its pure pandemonium until they are off to school. But it sure is nice to walk downstairs to a clean and quiet house for even 15 minutes! |
Kitchen must be clean! Floors, counters, dishes, etc. Living room is usually picked up. Oh, and bathroom clean and wiped down after kids shower. I can be a little flexible on the rest. |
Dishes/kitchen stuff yes, the other stuff no. We keep things fairly tidy but no I don’t pickup every last thing before bed. |
You clean the kids shower daily? What products do you use? Do you still have to scrub it weekly? |
Yes even though every night I tell my tired self that it is ok to let it go - somehow my body propels itself all over the house cleaning/tidying/preparing for the morning. |
Dishes yes. Toys or tidying the couch is less likely, but it would depend on the mess. Our house had a low level clutter about at all times.
After a party I would fill the dishwasher and organize the dirty stuff on the counter (rinse it, stack it), put away food or open drinks etc. But I wouldn't clean every last thing. I would finish in the morning. |
I try to. Nothing better than waking up to a tidy house and a clean kitchen. I feel off/irritated when it’s not clean - like I can’t start my day properly. |
Yes!
I also make my bed every morning. starts my day off right! |
Maybe not before bed but daily. Otherwise it can get out of hand. |
