Packing a lunch when you WFH?

Anonymous
I just started WFH and I’m so tempted and it’s so easy to go to the kitchen for a snack. What do you do? I’m considering packing a lunch and that’s it. Thoughts?

Each night I write in my phone what I'll be eating the next day, including snacks. It makes it easier to "stick to the plan."

This is a great idea and easier than packing. I’m so used to going and grabbing bagged apples or whatever. I’m worried I’ll go to the fridge to grab the apple and then “edit” my list.

You people need serious help. Your focus on food is mental, for real.

I don’t think about it, but I am not a snacker by nature. That said, if you can’t prevent yourself from snacking you might have a problem.

Can't you just note what's in the fridge and mentally say "Looks like I'm having leftover spaghetti today"?

So what if you have an extra, unaccounted for apple?

Consider yourself lucky if you don't have food noise running through your brain all the time.

I don't pack the lunch but I do have in mind in advance what I'm eating, and I stick to that and eat at the same time every day (when possible). I also set snack time as PP suggested. These are the only two times during the work day that I eat. (Breakfast is before work.)

So, some structure is good and will help satisfy your food thoughts by knowing when food time will happen.

+1. I am not hungry, so I don't eat. When I am hungry, I portion control. When I don't portion control, I feel terrible.

I have put together a salad the night before when I realized I a short window to eat. It was kind of nice to just grab it and eat. So why not just set aside the food you plan to eat for the day?

Ignore the aholes, as usual.

Prep quality veggie / protein snacks to grab. Buy less junk food. Get good sleep.

Is it how often or what you are choosing that is the problem? I’m not worried about eating too often because I keep lots of vegetables and fruits around that I can grab. I plan out meals each week, which includes some lunch ideas. During the day, I can get just as excited about a banana smeared with peanut butter as I can my kids’ Cheez-its. Night time cravings are my weakness…

Different way to go. I’m actively losing weight. My office is our 4th bedroom. And I have a dorm fridge, small microwave and coffee maker in there. I prep and plan my breakfast, lunch and snacks for the week and keep “my food” for the week in “my fridge”. It’s so much easier eat a healthy diet when I only have healthy choices in front of me.
