Brave girls only one scrimmage before league games

Anonymous
New to brave but it seems unusual to have only 1 scrimmage and only practices before ecnl league games. Is this normal? Our prior team in a league lower than ecnl had many more scrimmages before league games.

It’s not normal. Unfortunately, with BRAVE, you think “They’re ECNL…how bad could it be?” Then you get there, and spend some time there, and realize the training and coaching isn’t even to the level of normal travel teams and about on par with some rec teams. It’s insane.

I know the 10s, 09s and 08s have had 2 scrimmages at this point, and the 08s are playing in Copa Rayados this weekend where they'll play 2 more. Perhaps the 06s, 07s and 11s are sitting at 1 scrimmage.? I think at least 3 or 4 quality scrimmages makes sense, especially if there are a lot of new players, like Brave 09. Communication isn't always good at Brave...perhaps there will be other scrimmages but they haven't been announced.

We have had two scrimmages and are in the East Coast Premiere this weekend.

Why would they put only one age group in the copa rayados? All other clubs are participating in this across all age groups.

It is not typical. Our VYS Phoenix team has had 3 (including against you last weekend) heading into the match against GFR tomorrow.

Huh? Multiple Brave age groups are playing this weekend. 08, 06, 09, 07, etc

It sounds like the original poster is just trolling and not a brave parent after all, considering it’s been confirmed that they are incorrect about their own schedule.

I think they meant girls. Most of the BRAVE teams playing are boys teams.

The title of the thread says girls. Just looked at the brackets and only u15 brave girls are playing in the copa. That’s weird. Must be the only age group they care about.

Who is in the east coast premier? Is that boys or the other girls groups?

24 ECNL league games, plus at least four tournamants….more than most college teams. The kids will get plenty of soccer.

Lol. Plenty of games to figure it out during the season. Why bother trying to prep preseason? What a joke of a club. Guarantee that they get smoked in the first week of the season.

The hs age groups are not playing this many games.

Maybe they won’t be ready to *crush the competition* in the first game of the season. Is that really the goal at this age level?
Or, like some local clubs, they could play 7 preseason games over two weekends in August with 12 year olds whose bodies are still growing and not worry if they get injured or burnt out because there are 5 more teams below in that age group to pull from.
