Can I go to a comedy show by myself?

It's Trevor Noah. In several months. THere's one ticket near the front of the stage on a weeknight that's $99 and I could afford that. Am I going to be weird for going alone? Will I be one of the only white people in a sea of black people? I never go to anything bigger than a movie, and even that's like once a year. (No, I don't get out much.)

I went to a play at the Kennedy Center by myself once, and it wasn't weird at all. The show was basically sold out (i.e., no 2 seats together), and there was a solo seat near the front. The only annoyance was that I was literally the last person to leave the theater.

I have gone to see several comedians by myself, including Trevor Noah. No one cares. Also, his comedy is not urban so his audience is not all-Black. BUT EVEN IF IT WAS, who cares? Y'all are exhausting.

I’m white and as a college student 30 years ago, I went to Russell Simmons’ Def Comedy Jam at Constitution Hall by myself. When I arrived, I was the only white person walking in, the only person who was alone, and was dressed differently than the rest of the crowd because I’d come straight from a ballet at the Kennedy Center earlier that evening. Absolutely no one cared. Why would you even think Trevor Noah’s audience would be nearly all Black? White people freaking love The Daily Show.

I have gone to a comedy show by myself. No big deal. Your comment about being the only white face is odd, though.

You’re afraid of black people?

Do it! Comedians love single women sitting in front—prepare to be teased!

NP. I can see not wanting to be singled out at a comedy show.

That being said, Trevor Noah is also half white, and he’s not a dick, and his audience is primarily Daily Show fans. He’s not going to have a sea of black people jeering at you like you’re onstage rapping at the Apollo.

Newsflash: Trevor Noah is half-white.

You can go, but people might think it's funny.

Of course you can. I did this for Prince when he was alive. Found 1 ticket —tow 5 Warner Theater. Best decision. He died the next year. Took myself to see Beyonce. Not sure why people need to have someone to go to shows with.
