Will I be one of the only white people in a sea of black people? I never go to anything bigger than a movie, and even that's like once a year. (No, I don't get out much.)

Newsflash: Trevor Noah is half-white.

OP- you sound foolish. Have you ever watched the Trevor show? Do you really know who he is or who his audience is? You aren’t gonna be the only white in a sea of Black people and what’s the problem if you were? Might be good for you to experience anyway.

Yes, I’m Black.

Of course.

PSA for everyone everywhere: you can do pretty much anything you’re thinking of doing solo! Life is meant to be lived 😊

I wouldn't go to a small comedy club by myself for fear of getting singled out by the performer, but a big show at a theatre? No problem.

lol I'd be surprised if there are any black people there

I went to hedonism in Jamaica on a 8 day vacation in an all inclusive resort by myself, 30-50 pro sports games, TV Shows and ti dinner by myself 100-200 times and no one cared. I also have gone to bars and nightclubs alone maybe 300-400 times.

I lived by myself 27-34 and traced in business a lot so I go out

Sidebar: how do you all find out about events? I always find out about events after the fact or after tickets sell out.

Is there an email list to sign up for, or are you going to Ticketmaster every few days, or something else?

Thanks all - I just got my ticket. First time I've ever used Ticket Master. I have never done this before so not only am I not sure how to get to the venue but also not sure how to get my ticket (it will arrive on my phone? when?) or how to show it at the door (show them my phone?) but figure I will figure it out as I go.

Thanks for all the encouragement. To 15:59, I was just chatting with a coworker about how I'd read Trevor Noah's book and really liked it and if he came through my city I'd love to see if I liked his standup as much as I liked his book, and she mentioned she thought he was coming in December. So I googled his name to find his website and clicked on shows and scrolled to see if he was in my city and went from there.

You’re afraid of black people?

I am guessing more afraid of standing out and becoming a person the comedian makes fun of.

Proud of you girl! FYI no one will give a shit, know, or care that you don’t have a little schmuck sitting with you.
Live your life and don’t worry what other people who don’t know you think!

I feel like every woman should go to something like this alone at some point, or even just go to a movie or out to dinner alone, to see how freeing it can be.

And I know you won’t be the only white person at this, but I also feel that every white person should experience what’s it’s like to be the only one in the room at some point in their life.

Ticket Master is easy to use. Get the App on your phone. Your ticket bar code or QR code will appear in there which you will show at the comedy show door. They scan your code in your phone. Enjoy the show! Come back here to let us know how it goes!

OP here with an update: I went to the show. His opening act was a guy named Will who was really funny. He was funny. I sat between an old couple and a young couple. He didn't really interact with the audience at all.

To 3:25, I've been the only white person in various places before. My point in asking is sometimes a space is for specific people, and if other people go into that space they're not truly welcome.

In this instance, I'd say the audience was maYYYYYYbe a fourth or even just a fifth black.

He’ll no. Don’t sit in front. Get your ticket comfortably in an aisle seat in the back somewhere. I did comedy in the front row before and I ended up hiding in the bathroom most of the “show”

Have you actually ever been to a small comedy club? Did you go once, and saw a solo audience member singled out, or what? I don't know where you're getting that image from, but you need to discard it from your head. Why so fearful? I've seen comedians riff on something they've asked audience members, but never attack the person (unless that person is a heckler!) or pick on a solo audience member for BEING solo.

What shows are you terrified people attending, that you are so afraid of the performers you've paid to see, and whose overall material you surely should know a bit about?!
