What does “quality of life” on campus mean?

NP--It's a combination of students' ratings of the dorms, food, administration, local town, etc. I like it, both because it's the users' opinions and because it's factors you don't get elsewhere.

Mostly southern schools. Our resident NE boosters won't like that.

Being so happy must be miserable.

Kansas
Wheaton
U of WA State
WUSTL
U San Diego

No, “most” are not Southern. Unless you took stats in the South or ague that California counts as a “Southern” state. And to get 5 “Southern,” you have to say Richmond and TX Christian are from the same geographic area, which is a stretch.

In fact, it’s a mix of schools from a mix of places with a mix of selectivity. The schools don’t have a lot in common, unless you can see the link between Tx Christian, U San Diego, WA State and WUSTL.

No one can look at that list and seriously drawn any conclusion that any particular size, political leaning, location or admit rate is dominant.

I went to school in Colorado and between the great skiing and weather- I had a great quality of life

My QOL was amazing at Univ. of Miami. Beautiful campus, town, weather, neaby South Beach, great local food, shopping, night life, and new 60m gym next to my dorm. I cannot imagine any school comparing in QOL to that.

Sure hope all that fun doesn’t lead to an accidental pregnancy. At half those schools, the girls would be moms before the academic year ends.

I do not take these too seriously as student interests and definitions of QOL differ.

That being said, in the top 24 schools listed, only two are above 20,000 students, one more is 15,000 students and the rest are 10,500 or less.

Just interesting.

Amazing that you can only talk about one subject and one subject only. The obsession is real.

Except that some of these schools may have more students with a far different comparative experiences--what pleases students at Kansas is in part what they are comparing it to. So not all that relevant for your kid unless they happen to match the life experiences of the bulk of the population making the ratings.
