It’s that time of year. What are some of your favorite recipes. Please share.

I used to live in NM so I got used to green chili on everything, including pizza. One of the foods I miss so much is the breakfast burritos from the Frontier restaurant. I try to recreate it with scrambled eggs with shredded cheddar, green chili and hash browns in a large flour tortilla. If you can get the tortillas from the restaurant that’s the best. I think they sell them online.

FYI Wegmans in Fairfax is doing their hatch chili roast starting today until they run out.

I just roast them and make sauces. I don't use recipes, I just go with whatever my soul tells me to do.

- roasted chilies, tomatillos, cillantro, lime, garlic, salt

- roasted chilies, make a roux, cream, cheese, garlic, salt, pepper

Or stuff them with spanish rice, top with broiled cheese

Etc.

I make this Deborah Madison soup with hatch chilies instead of Poblano and add in a can of black beans.

Green hatch chicken chili verde is great.

We also get dried hatch chili powder and dried dixon chili powder from http://thechileshop.com/ and it makes all of our chili recipes so much better than other chili powders.

Even though it's warm out, I may need to make a batch of chili this weekend, now.

There's nothing special about Hatch chilies. Don't buy into advertising hype.

I have to agree. I grow several Numex chile varieties in my Silver Spring yard and I can’t tell the difference.

Thanks, PP! I've bought chiles from the annual Wegmans green chile roasts in the past but would have forgotten all about it this year had you not mentioned it.

I'll be heading to the Fairfax Wegmans tomorrow to get some roasted green chiles. I just called the store and they told me that the hours for the roast are 11-6 today through Sunday. No need to order in advance.

Yesterday, they also had fresh chiles and pre-roasted chiles inside in the produce section.
