| and how big is your house? i was just checking my pepco and i am currently using about 40-45kWh per day (mostly AC). House is only 2650 sqft. |
|
3500 sqft home.
AC is set on 72 - 69 degrees. Run our dishwasher around 3 times a day. (Family of 4, 2 teens). Run laundry - 3 loads a day, during the day. 2 fridge. One upright freezer. Roof is covered with solar panels. |
| oops. Did not answer the question. Yup, no idea about the kWh. Also, we charge our hybrid cars. Every once in a while, we earn back a couple dollars from PEPCO. |
|
Funny you should ask. I was just looking at this because our electric bill is out of control ($500), and we only run the AC at night starting around 8pm. I should preface this by noting that we live in Southern California, so we're not Pepco.
AC is electric. We cook with gas. Our heat is gas, dryer is gas. Our home is 2400sqft. Our windows are about 15 years old. Our average electricity usage during the summer is 25-30 KW. We used 933 KW in July and our bill is $498.00. Looking at our bill from Nov 2022 (Fall months) our average daily usage 15 KW. Our bill was $349. It's a lot. |
LOL PP |
Similar house size, 34kWh per day, very stingy with AC. |
That’s ice three times as much as dominion energy. We have a similar size house and between 20-30kwh average per day, including ev charging. |
I was imagining where I am now, is significantly higher than our Pepco bills were, but it's actually about the same. |
1500 sq foot townhouse here, 50+ years old and windows about 15. Average about 15kw/day (AC set to 77/day, 71/night). Household of just one to be fair. Last electric bill was $49. |
What?!?! Where are you and which utility?? |
| Ugh, ours is terrible. We averaged 93 kWh a day in July and averaging 75/day so far this month. We’re a family of 5 in a 3000 square foot house. We keep the a/c between 75 and 78 but we have electro cars. I also suspect our windows are leaky but haven’t had anyone in to check them. I don’t think it’s the a/c so much though because I went back to February and we were using 50 kWh/day. |
Dominion (Virginia), but I'm enrolled in Dominion's Off Peak Plan. I don't think it saves me much though, I just avoid having HVAC going during that time or doing laundry. Like I said, I'm only about 15kw/day. |
On the opposite end, that seems really low. Are you on a budget billing plan? |
OP is paying 0.55/kwH, you're paying 0.05/kwH. |
Nope, I'm just energy conscious, and my usage is overall very low. My winter bills are about $10 lower, because I keep the heat set to 64. I overestimated - my last kWh usage was 378. Here's the breakdown by peak, and you can see the kwh charges at Dominion's link above (again, I don't run anything big during the peak times - except maybe laptop charger, small dehumidifier, showers via tankless water heater, etc): Total kWh 378 On Pk Usage 15 Off Pk Usage 274 Super Of Sum 89 |
