Are high school teachers allowed to give homework? I want to email the principal and the AP, and all my daughter teachers and let them know that I don't want my daughter to be assign homework. I will be okay, with them giving a studying for a test, and reading for Fun and extra credit and that is all. NO Test on Monday and no more than one test per day. Will this be possible ? She was denied A IEP and 504, because they tested her and she had no need for one, but I believe kids should be kids and they shouldn't be doing homework when they get home and they shouldn't have to do so much work when they get home from school. |
| pull your kid out and send her to private. |
|
Yes, you are allowed to send that email.
Also, yes the principal is allowed to laugh for a very long time and then deny your request. |
Which private? |
|
I hope this is a joke?!
What you are requesting is so unreasonable. You should.look into homeschooling if you want that much control over how your child is taught. |
any private |
No most privates will not accommodate that. |
|
So... what is your goal with this? Are you going to call your kids' bosses and ask that they don't ever have to do too much work? What about in college?
Also, your high schooler isn't a kid anymore. I agree that we should let kids play, but that means like early elementary schoolers. |
| No way OP is a real person. no one is this clueless. |
Dumbest comment on DCUM whenever someone talks about issues with school. |
|
Surely you are trolling, right?
Maybe homeschool and don’t assign your kid homework. |
+1 |
| It's public school so not much will happen anyway if your kid doesn't do any homework. |
ouch, hit a nerve?? LOL |
| I'm very glad your IEP and 504 were denied. I really think this is part of teachers' issue with schools. People are making up fake reasons to get their kids out of homework, extra time on tests and out of stuff that kids don't want to do. It's undermining actual teaching and is absolutely setting kids up for failure in the real world. |
