Why doesn't Northern Virginia (Fairfax, Fairfax City, Arlington, Alexandria, Loudoun, Prince William, Fauquier, Stafford, Fredericksburg, Culpepper, Clarke Co., Spotsylvania Co, Rappahannock Co., Warren Co., Falls Church, Manassas and Manassas Park) become its own State? What's stopping it from leaving VA and becoming tis own state.
If its politics, it'll be a purple state and be competitive! Tired of Richmond screwing us over in favor of the buck toothed goobers in SoVA, Hampton Roads and central VA. |
| It is unlikely that a new Statehood would happen anytime soon. Unless the Democrats get a filibuster-proof majority in Congress for DC and Puerto Rico and even then, the Right-Wing Supreme Court could still strike it down. In terms of which party would benefit from this depends, if it's just NOVA then the Dems would benefit in a solidly blue state with the rest of Virginia still being competitive. But if Republicans get to manage a DC statehood that includes NOVA AND Central Maryland than it could possibly benefit them in making the rest of Maryland competitive if Baltimore loses influence. |
The reason nova is doing well is because of the pro business policies of Richmond |
Gee, OP, maybe you and your ignorance should do us all a favor and move somewhere else. |
| At least have of those localities would have exactly zero interest in seceding from Virginia. |
Nova and Maryland hate each other. That would never work. |
Just out of curiosity, did you call the pre-Trump Supreme Court "left-wing"? |
DP. "Right-wing Supreme Court" to describe the current Supreme Court is not an opinion, it's just an objective statement of fact. John G. Roberts, Jr. Clarence Thomas Samuel A. Alito, Jr. Sonia Sotomayor Elena Kagan Neil Gorsuch Brett M. Kavanaugh Amy Coney Barrett Ketanji Brown Jackson In contrast, the Supreme Court in January 2016 was objectively NOT "left-wing": John G. Roberts, Jr. Antonin Scalia Anthony M. Kennedy Clarence Thomas Ruth Bader Ginsburg Stephen G. Breyer Samuel A. Alito, Jr. Sonia Sotomayor Elena Kagan |

I don’t think it’s possible for part of a state to form a new state. It is possible to join another state - that’s happening in Oregon where a few counties want to join Idaho instead. But you would need the permission of the state you’re leaving as well as that of the federal government.

Don't tell West Virginia or Maine. |
Red states and areas would LOVE to be rid of the rest of us. The best strategy OP is to remind the red areas of that. |
Half of what OP listed is red. |
| Such tolerance and inclusivity, OP! You are a beaming light, shining Democracy™️ into the deepest, darkest corners of our nation. |
This made me LOL buck toothed goobers..now that's a new one! |
Nothing wrong with dropping the traitors. |
