| We’re driving back from Boston and have a hankering for authentic NY bagels. Happy to take an alternate route, but can’t stop in the city itself this time. Does anyone have recs for where we could stop for bagels? |
| Bagel Nosh. They have a bunch of locations in North Jersey. |
| NP - thank you PP! We are making a similar drive and wanted NY bagels too. |
| OMG, anywhere in NJ that is not a big chain. |
Where specifically, please? Happy for recommendations, but don’t know the areas and can’t really research while on the road. |
|
NP. Right you can't search on the road, but you could take 10 minutes to look into this right now.
https://www.nj.com/food/2022/02/new-jerseys-44-greatest-bagel-shops-ranked.html There are many links like the one above, which took me 2 seconds to google. Look at your route, and pick a town that's close to the interstate. |

If you are driving from Boston to DC you are likely taking Route 84 across CT (don't do 95 the whole way that route is awful!)
Anyway, on Route 84 you will find Rein's Deli. https://www.reinsdeli.com/ This place is 100% worth the stop. I've been stopping there for years. They have some of the best sandwiches you'll ever eat (eat there or take out). They have bagels, and amazing crumb cake, and the pickles (OMG). And tons of things you can take to cook at home later. |
+1 for Rein’s! It’s amazing. Bring home some matzoh ball soup too! |
| No need to go that far. Bagels & in Annapolis is better than 90% of the places in NJ/NY. |
Better at NY style bagels? Or it’s a different style? |
| I love reins, but not for bagels. |
|
If driving through CT, Ami’s in Waterbury - not far from 84.
If you’re one of those people who travels back to DC through western Mass for some reason, Great Barrington Bagel is excellent, but 10 miles off the highway. |
|
Why can’t you search on the road?
Flip phone? |
NY style |
| Adore Rein’s and been there dozens of times but never ordered a bagel…do they even make them on site? |
