| does it take you awhile to get back to normal? |
| Maybe a day, day and a half. Jet lag can be rough. |
| Like, logistically? Or emotionally? |
| Wut are you asking |
| Reentry after any trip is always hard. |
| I try to have a smooth re-entry. No late Sunday arrivals. Tee up a grocery order. People unload their suitcases directly into a laundry hamper and I start the laundry right away. Sometimes it's a hot mess anyway, but I try. |
| We have a very smooth re-entry. Now that our kids are elementary age we don't mind flying with them and send the nanny home a day early. Then they meet us when we arrive home and start the kids laundry. We have the cleaning lady come the day before we get back, have groceries delivered the day we arrive. By the end of our first full day home, we have all laundry done and put away and we're fully unpacked. |
| I’m generally constipated when I travel so the toilet is the first place I do damage when I get back |
| It's not the chores, it's the mindset |

Doggie very happy and lovable. |
| About a day. Mostly because that first day we get back we just tend to relax. We've got our re-packing at end of vacation and unpacking when we get home down to a science, so that's easy. But that first day we are going to get takeout instead of one of us having to go the grocery store. We tend to pick up the dog the day after we get home. Ds is old enough to unpack his carry on and put stufff where it goes, put away clean clothes, and put dirty clothes in a hamper. |
Hm that must be nice to have a nanny travel with you |

Yes, it takes awhile to “reset.” Vacation isn’t really restful, so the last thing I want to do is 5 loads of laundry when we get home. I usually put away what conveniently needs put away (toiletries, medicines, cooler items that need refrigerated , etc..), but then the rest of it sits there until I get to it. (Suitcases stay zipped—we typically return with a suitcase of dirty clothing and a suitcase of un-worn extras.)
Back to work on Monday and we have lots of clothing, so laundry does not get done for at least 1-2 weeks post return. *Disclaimer: No nanny, obvs. 😉 |
