Info for those asking for experiences with weight loss drugs. I think nausea is a common symptom and the extreme cases in the story are rarer.

CNN can create a story about any side effects of any drug.

So it’s not true?

Could be true. But not does it matter to the millions of people losing weight? I don’t think it does.

Someone I know posted this story on Facebook and said she experienced this problem herself.

Been on Wegovy for six months with zero symptoms.
Anonymous
Been on it for 5 years, have not experienced this. Have only thrown up 4 times.

It's true but it's not "the whole truth." It's not presented in a way that really gives a person the context of how likely this risk is, how it compares to the myriad of other risks a person faces every day, how it compares to the potential benefits, how it compares to the risks of not taking the medicine, and so forth.

Like any cable news outlet, CNN is in the business of attracting clicks and eyeballs, so I know this sort of nuance and context doesn't really square with their business model. So, I don't fault them. But I wouldn't make much out of this story other than just another data point to keep in the back of your mind when making decisions.

Delayed gastric emptying is a feature. It is part of what contributes to appetite suppression and glucose control.

If the dose is too high the effect can be extreme and cause food to sit for too long undigested, resulting in nausea, vomiting, and sulphuric burps.

I’m not sure why the media is presenting this as some kind of permanent health condition. It’s what the drug is designed to do.

Apparently it's a rare side effect. It's been used for diabetes for 15 years without this being newsworthy. More people using it, more cases of rare side effects. Something to be aware of and consider, I guess.

Have been on Wegovy 6.5 months, down 35 pounds, ZERO side effects. Some people have reactions to drugs, most do not

Wegovy is just bulimia with extra steps 😂😂😂

Not in my experience. I have not thrown up. All it has done for me is make me feel full for longer, so I eat less.
