| Does anyone know whether they will consider rescheduling All Stars this weekend due to excessive heat? These poor kids are going to be sizzling on the parking lot pavement! |
No. No reschedule. If it doesn’t occur on Saturday the season is done. |
| Bring ice chests with drinks + popup shelter for shade. I am far more worried about the audience members than the swimmers, who at least can literally stay wet between the warm-up pool and the locker room showers! |
| Has it ever been canceled before? Curious as to how hot it would have to be for them to call it. |
Is there an actual warm up pool? I thought there were brief stroke and age-specific warm up periods only. And as far as I know the guard house and bathroom facilities won't be open at all to the public. Isn't it just porta-potties? |
|
0% chance of rescheduling. Putting on an event like this is a massive effort, you can't just recreate it on another day and time.
Be smart. Wear light-colored clothing and a hat. Bring an umbrella even or one of those personal battery-operated fans. Tons of water and fruit to stay hydrated. |
If no water access, then jugs for pouring, or outdoor showers if the pool has them? We're MCSL, so different location. |
| I recommend ice chests filled with water and ice, and towels—for swimmers and officials in particular. Spectators should honestly stay in their cars. Shade, fans and lots of ice for everyone else. Officials need to wear light technical fabrics and continuously cool themselves with water (like drench your shirts and hats). I do worry someone is going get heat exhaustion on deck. |
| For MCSL, half the pool will be available for warm up (or in this case, cool down) |
Why would the kids swimming be anywhere near the parking lot? |
That’s where the team areas are at Orange Hunt. |
Under tents. |
That's just inadequate facilities - blame the NVSL decision makers for that. How does a postage stamp get picked to host all stars? |
By volunteering when no one else will. They did a good job last year and will again this year. |
That's a good point and I'm sure they will make the most of what they have. |
