Do you always select to have breakfast included?
I never have but would be willing to try it this time. It’s about $242 more than the non-breakfast option. I’m somewhat torn. |
|
Wtf? Why would you pay 242 dollars for breakfast?
Do the math and make a case by case decision |
+1. We often choose this option but not for $242 more! |
| Depends on the breakfast and what’s around the hotel. If it’s in an area that has cafes etc for east breakfast, I wouldn’t. If the hotel is remote and it’s basically the only option, then I would add. It usually works out cheaper than ordering a la carte or paying separately for breakfast. Also, it depends what 242$ is: is this additional charge per night? Additional on total? What’s the total without breakfast and what are your other options for breakfast? |
|
Usually hotel breakfast is more expensive or has lower quality than something at a nearby cafe. You are also restricted for hours and location. Also it’s buffet and you may just want a little bit of one item.
I never pay extra for breakfasts. In the US they are especially bad in terms of cost quality ratio imho |

How many people and how many days? 2 days and 2 people, definitely not. 10 days and 6 people, probably yes if we couldn't get groceries.

There are 6 people in our family, so 242 dollars would be cost effective if it was a multi day stay and we could make breakfast our big meal and have a small lunch somewhere during our activities.
You really haven’t given us enough detail about your circumstances to know. |
| I like to include breakfast just because it’s easier and usually pretty flexible. But I definitely wouldn’t pay $242 more for breakfast - that’s crazy high and I’m usually happy with coffee and a yogurt. |
| $242 covers how many people for how many days? |
that's not nearly enough information. How many people for how many nights? Is that total or per night more? |
| no |
+1 what a nonsensical post |
It's the platonic ideal of a certain kind of post. Broad question with zero detailed information to allow any reasonable response. |
| Op here. I calculated it from the total cost overall compared to selecting a room without the breakfast included. Hotel is in Paris so not remote and this would be for two adults for 5 days. Dinner is not included in the selection. I figure the equivalent of sitting and eating at a full service restaurant but a cafe for quick pastry/croissant is always cheaper. |
The other thing to consider is your eating habits on vacation. DH and I have come to realize that we prefer two big meals rather than 3 smaller meals on vacation. So we eat a big breakfast, then maybe get a snack around 3 pm, and then are ready for a big dinner around 6 pm. |
