Summer Success for BSC 10s

Hopefully the newer, anonymous and nicer... DCUM soccer page can make some time to comment on this local success story. Say what you will about BSC but Final Four nationally is a huge accomplisment, taking on the best nationally and repping for DMV soccer

Way to go girls!

I think they played an incredible game in the quarter finals. That was really the final game. Slammers were tough but only won in PKs

I will say I was shocked at the amount of huge ball heading. I thought headers were not meant to happen until age 14. The girls were heading like the pros.

Is BSC 10 the only girls team in any age group to make a national final four? Well done.

This year for sure, I don't know what's happened historically. Battling only CA teams in the final four nice was to see the East Coast represent too and taking the eventual winners Slammers HBK to penalties was no small task in the semis. They look set to do make a deep summer run in 2024 again retooling, do you know where your best player is playing next year?

I would be thrilled if they got rid of heading the ball altogether TBH

Are they doing additional tryouts? I have zero luck contacting coaches there. Like literally crickets.

Good for BSC, but is this the same squad that is third in North Atlantic ECNL standings? How do they compare to the Union 10s?

They last played each other in WAGS nearly a year ago where Bethesda won in a 1 goal game. They didn't play each other in the Virginian, although Bethesda seems to have done slightly better against the same teams in that one. Overall, they're both very good teams, with Bethesda holding a slight advantage right now, particularly after a very strong national final 4 run on their side.

BSC lost in the Virginian final just a couple months ago to a team that didn’t even qualify for their GA playoffs. Let’s not read too much into one good playoff run. Truth is, there are a handful of good teams in the area which are all capable of beating each other on any given day.

Let's give them credit. They got that far and the Union team didn't get out of group stage. Between the Virginian and the playoffs, they did get at least one quality player.

Of course they deserve credit. Well done. But that doesn't mean they are a better team. If BSC played Union 10 times, games would be close and they would most likely split 5-5 or 6-4 or 4-6. Same would likely happen if they played VDA, TSJFCV, Arlington. You can say they were the better team on that day or in that tournament but not overall.

They added a new player to the team after Memorial Day? How does that even work?

That was the wrong team. The Virginian BSC team was ECNL-RL, not national. 2nd team. Yes, I know this for sure.

Well, tryouts were before that, so could be someone who tried out, impressed, and was asked to join for the rest of the season.
