I was raised Christian so I was taught we were created from Adam and Eve.
But as I’ve gotten older I see there is the belief we evolved from monkeys? What are your thoughts about our origins? And how can any of us really know ever? |
Is it worth contemplating our mere existence? |
I think it comes down to if you believe in science/evolution or that a holy being in the sky reached into a man, pulled out one of his ribs, and turned it into a woman.
I just had this talk with my 5yo over the weekend and we agreed on evolution. |
If we evolved from monkeys, why are they still around? |
How did Adam and Eve create enough offshoot humans to populate the entire world? And then how did they get to all respective populated areas of the world? |
We evolved from apes that no longer exist today. |
No we did not evolve from monkeys! However, both humans and monkeys evolved from the same ancestor. |
I was raised Christian and we believe in evolution. Lots of Christian's do, including the Catholic Church. |
The same reason that amoebas still exist. Different species branched at different times |
This. Humans are homo sapiens. There were others before and in parallel to us over the course of many millions of years. And its evolution from apes (not the same ones as exist today). https://www.britannica.com/topic/Homo-sapiens |
I know Christians that believe in evolution but not speciation. |
We're all God's creatures. We have Mitochondrial Eve, we have the Floris people, Denisovans, we have the Neanderthals who intermarried/interbred.
The answer is yes, all of the above. |
+1 I really don't understand why this is so hard to comprehend. |
Humans did not "evolve from monkeys". In the evolutionary tree, humans, hominids, and other primates branched off of the same parent ancestor millions of years ago. |
Where did God come from? |
