Northwestern University football had a horrible season last year ( one (1) win and eleven (11) losses). Now, Northwestern football has a hazing scandal that has drawn national attention.
Head Football Coach Pat Fitzgerald makes the most of the talent that he has, but year after year he fails to recruit top players (4 star & 5 star high school football players) to his program. Northwestern football has struggled since heralded defensive coordinator Mike Hankwitz retired at age 74 a couple of years ago. |

Do you realize there is another forum dedicated to General Sports? Put all talk of College Football there. College University Discussion forum - to be used talking about colleges/universities. Getting in, good fits, etc. General Sports forum - to be used talking about Pat Fitzgerald, B1G/SEC expansion, college football, college basketball. Do you see the difference? |

It happens at every school, the coaches probably know but he should have left a few years ago because that program is never going to compete at the top of the conference.

Yes. Clearly, you never attended school at an SEC or Big Ten university or Big 12. In the words of former University of Oklahoma President Dr. George Cross in seeking funding from the state legislature after Oklahoma won its first national championship in football in 1951/1952, "We want to build a university our football team can be proud of." Division 1 football is big business and it is university business. One university president told me that hiring coach Nick Saban is the best investment that we ever made. And, since I brought up the subject of quotes: Former University of OklahomaCoach Barry Switzer: "Some people are born on third base and go through life thinking they hit a triple." |
