Best rice cooker

Buying my baby brother a rice cooker for his birthday/housewarming. What’s your favorite? Don’t want to spend an arm and a leg but willing to pay a bit more for something that will last.

Yep, I’m single and live alone. I love this thing. I have the small 3 cup version and it’s perfect for me.

Agree Zojirushi for sure, but if you don't want to spend a ton of money, we have the Aroma and it's great.

Agreed. It is worth the high cost if you factor in how much you will use it. Mine is over 25 years old!

We have the Aroma and it's perfect. I was a hesitant convert to a rice cooker, but out of gift ideas, I got my DH one and it is the best thing ever!

Zojirushi lasts a long time. The inner non-stick pot does not. It starts peeling after a while.

When I cook basmati which is very frequently it comes out great in a Le Creuset saucepan on the stove. Rice, water, evoo, bring to boil reduce to low and let sit ~20 minutes then fluff with fork.

The above method is very easy and I have just always wondered if I am really missing out by not having a rice cooker? What is the advantage?

I like Zojiroshi, but there’s an equally enthusiastic group of people who swear by Cuckoo. Can’t go wrong with either.

Mine hasn’t. It’s about 15 years old.
