Manorcare/Promedicare conversion to Montcare

Anonymous
Does anybody else have a family member in a former Manorcare/ProMedica facility? My family member has been at Potomac for years and the name has changed several times. I recently learned they are now Montcare Potomac. The experience was never great but now I’m hearing increasing complaints from my family member since they were sold and became Montcare. They said long-time staff have been quitting and staff shortages are worse than ever. What’s your impression of the new company whether at Potomac or any of the other area facilities?

Also, the billing has left me very confused. We had a large credit with ProMedica (portal) but just received a Montcare bill by mail that shows we actually owe a large sum. So it appears that the old owner didn’t transfer the credit to the new owner. I’ll call tomorrow since today is the 4th but I dread dealing with this. Has anybody else had a problem with billing?

Manor care has generally been bad. Check with the county ombudsman.

There is new ownership - they also acquired several other local facilities - and quality has gone down in them all.

My recent experience has not been great. I came here after surgery because of what I thought was their sterling reputation. The food is terrible - new vendor- and medical care is questionable. I would not recommend this place for anyone, especially someone unable to question things or advocate for themselves. Physical therapy was very good.
