Would you take this WFH deal?

We are going back to office. It is difficult for me as a long commute driving in rush hour.

My boss with HR permission agreed to I can work 40 hours a week as follows.

10 hours Remote on Wed. As long as productive whole 10 hours.

Then I can do 7.5 hours with a 30 minute lunch (8 hours) other 4 days. I can start work anytime between 6am and 12 noon.

Technically it eliminates my long commute 5 days in a row. I get a break on Wed. and I no longer have to deal with rush hour on days in.

I want two - three days at home? But running out of justifications. Any thoughts?

This doesn’t sound like a good deal and you sound like a troll.

OP hasn't told her what she does. It sounds like a fair deal for many jobs.

Use vacation or doctor appointments strategically so you get 2 days at home? I'd take it but keep looking for a fully remote position.

Get a new job - these places with their you must be in the office are ridiculous and lame.

Most jobs are returning to 2019 WFH rules - but the 10 hour day + 7.5 days sounds like clocking in and out which is a separate issue. And yes, clocking in and out is ridiculous and lame.

Is this govt? So basically you get weds home and 8hrs in the office other 4 days? Sounds kind of crappy to me. Find another job. My gift agency is talking about going in 5 days total per period (3 one week; 2 the other) up from the 4 per pay period we have to go in now. I have a 10min commute and can do things like leave early if I have to and continue teleworking from home. If we had to do the majority of the time in the office I’d find a new job

No, its not much of a deal.

They want you to work over 40 hours per week? Am I reading that right? I wouldn't do it because it doesn't seem ethical. I would work 40 hours per in in the office while looking for something else.

Or just give 2 weeks notice now.

This sounds like a terrible deal. Look for a new job.

No one is productive for 10 hours solid

So you get to work from home one day a week but only if you work an additional 2.5 hours with no lunch? Doesn’t federal law require a 15 minute break for every 4 hours worked? Have you had issues with productivity ? (We have one coworker who disappears for hours during her work from home. She has an infant and does not have other childcare in place.)

What is the schedule if you go into the office every day?

And how do they anticipate monitoring that you are productive the entire time.

Honestly, if they are vindictive, I would just go in. The productive for 10 hours with no lunch break sounds like a trap. But if they’re generally not vindictive, I would take them up on it and look for something more flexible.
