Putin used to enjoy a cordial relationship with Bush. However, his way of handling things was the writing on the wall of a troubled future. Bush was naive too not see it earlier.

Bush met with Russian President Vladimir Putin. “I looked the man in the eye. I found him to be very straightforward and trustworthy,” Bush said. “I was able to get a sense of his soul.” (Bush later regretted saying this.) -That's according to an online article.

The weirdest thing in this article was the creepy sexual joke Putin pulled on Condi Rice and Bush played along.

Quote:
Then, in an odd exchange, Putin mentioned Sergei Lavrov, his chain-smoking, hard-line foreign minister. “Lavrov just returned from London and had problems with his cheeks and lips being swollen,” Putin told Bush. “We might need to take a closer look at what Condi did to him.”

Bush, awkwardly, played along with what seemed to be a bizarre form of xesual innuendo. “Condi is not blind,” he joked.

“And she is a very attractive lady,” Putin replied.

“She is a wonderful lady,” Bush said, then tried to move the conversation along. “Listen, I’d like to get this WTO stuff done in the next couple weeks before we get to St. Petersburg.”

Blech. But it hasn’t gotten better. Remember the cringe worthy reset button Secretary of State Clinton gave as a gesture to Russia? Or how President Obama called Russia a JV team. Then Trump, now Biden.

We need new leadership thinking. Though by the looks of it, we may briefly gain some time while Russia once again eats its own. Too bad we are too busy fighting amongst ourselves to give any serious notice to it.

The fact that 20 years later Russia still has the same leader is the key to understanding the problem with Russia.

Russia is run by the same people as 20 years ago, while America is run by the same people as 20 years ago. The only difference is one is done openly.

Is it the Jews who run America? Or maybe the saucer people? Because if you're saying George W. Bush runs America right now, that would be CRAZY.

Oh Condoleeza Rice faced a HUGE amount of sexual harassment/overtures/you-name-it while she was in office.

Yeah, right, that's the ONLY difference.

Is Condoleeza Rice considered attractive?- this is such a weird mix of stories. I would say she is handsome but not attractive.

I'm not sure there's any "new leadership thinking" available to us that could match Putin's ruthlessness, wiliness, and sociopathic/psychopathic tendencies. I mean, what preparation/education could a US political leader have that could prepare them to go up against a former KGB agent who has no respect for human life and is a likely psychopath? American presidents are stupid to think they can "charm" Putin or pacify him.

I’m PP and I agree. I don’t know what the answer is, but what we’ve been doing for the past couple decades or more hasn’t been working.

That's what happens when the GOP decides to worship strongman dictators.
