No, people stating reasons why people leave VYS is not the same as saying "leave VYS". |
I'm sorry, we're just going to have to agree to disagree on the history of this thread and the travel thread, along with comments like this:
But I'm sure we can agree on the following: 1. Most clubs have issues worth addressing. 2. This thread has had some nasty trolling over the years. And move on from there. Cheers. |
VYS Phoenix reaches NPL final game:
http://nationalpremierleagues.com/keeping-up-with-the-2017-npl-finals Sure, it's one of many "national championships," but it's still pretty impressive. |
Good for them! |
Vienna has a very strong girls program.. I'm not sure about the boys but I don't get what people are griping about on here about Vienna's teams being bad. Vienna's top girls teams are very competitive. |
If you say so... |
NPL/VPL standings for the 2016/17 year for all ages. VYS Girls: 34-62-9 VYS Boys: 29-71-13 Club Total: 63-133-22 Out of 17 VYS teams in NPL/VPL only the following 5 teams have winning records: G U14, U17, U18 B U12, U14 |
Isn't it a little late in the summer for summer reruns? We literally had this exact conversation several pages ago. The summary: There's more to success than how many games their A teams win in a bullshit league. Go back and read if you need more info. |
Just pointing out how competitive VYS girls top teams are. |
If you want to know the answer to that, go back and read the thread (though I have a hunch you've already done that). |
I believe some U12 Vienna travel girls moved to Arlington U12 Travel - rumor is they are really good. |
^^ The VDA partnership already paying off retention dividends. |
The VDA partnership backfired on some of the clubs. They used it as a carrot stick to tell folks that didn't make it to DA, to stick it out at one of the associated clubs and you "may" get called up. Truth is, you have no advantage by just being with CYA, VYS, PWSI, etc. They take the top players that tryout, end of story. I questioned them a lot about it and called their BS, we went with another DA program as a result. |
I get that post U14 but one would hope that kids would stick it out at VYS until they are even old enough for VDA. That of course is if the rumors of girls leaving for Arlington are even true. But after U14 if you didn't make VDA or another DA club your decision matrix changes. If your kid is good enough to play in college and the VYS team is good, sure stick it out at VYS, build a team and have some fun. If your kid is good enough for college but the VYS team is not good then you have to re-calibrate some. You don't NEED DA or ECNL to play in college but your kid does need to be on a team that will provide some exposure. Depending on the year that could be VYS or in other years a kid is best to move. If your kid is not good enough for college or simply not interested in playing in college then just worry about the best fit of coaches and kids. |
VYS parent here. We started our season on Sat and same old story. Good kids, shitty play. Played strong in the first half, then choked in the second. I'm on the verge of pulling my kid out, she's starting to hate soccer because the team sucks soo bad.
