To add to 12:49's post, it's the flip side of "everyone should have hundreds of thousands of dollars socked away before they procreate." I do happen to think parents should have more than a pot to piss in when they have kids, but I guess if you're willing to do without a lot, having kids at 25 is an okay idea.

I'm a NP, but also non-religious. Let me try and explain something to you - calling a group of people a pain because of their belief (or lack of belief) system, is pretty damn offensive - especially given the obvious dominance of religious groups in this country, and giving their clear upper hand. Don't try and say that's not what the PP was saying, particularly given the context of the response.

SocialSecurity Disability and Veteran's disability pay...The system is being ripped off by lazy people who don't want to work! I have seen so many cases of this! People who want to work do work and don't apply for disability. My neighbor has a full military pension and he is perfectly fine! he is gardening, etc. It makes me furious. My other neighbor has SSDI and free medical for life for fybromyalgia. she is nutty but otherwise in perfect health. she is just too weird and selfish to work! Lazy bums I say.

I want to say to each of my neighbors, Why are you on disability? Why does the gov't (including my hard earned money) paying you so that you can live the life of Riley - watching tv all day; gardening; playing with your pets, drivng brand new vehicles?

It drives me crazy. I am an attorney and I have dealt with many, many cases of people ripping off the welfare and disability systems. I am a liberal Democrat, but we need more oversight.
