There is still a chance to stop this bill specifically the Medicaid cut. I don’t think Trump is even aware the Medicaid cuts are in the bill. Even if you are not on any type of assistance, the cuts to Medicaid will decimate our healthcare system. Hospitals in blue areas are already making cuts. No one will be immune from this. No one!

I’m really not clear about the long game here. What do they think they’ll be left with?

The richest family in rural western wherever might not — hospitals are already starting to close, and the businesses that they support and the incomes that they provide will be toast. That means suffering for many of us, but it also means the crumbling of the infrastructures that support their/ our lives — from the essentials to some of the fun stuff. Some of the not wealthy MAGAs are already feeling the shocks.

It would be nice if enough of this clicks in time for them to call their Representatives NOW.

This bill gives Republicans what they have wanted for years. Cuts to the social safety net and lower taxes for corporations and the rich. They've cried crocodile tears about the deficit for 25 years while adding to it every time they are in charge. This is just more of the same, but they finally got their Medicaid cuts and SNAP.

The problem for Republicans now is the working class put them back in power. Their benefits get cut and they won't get much from the new goodies in the bill.

The deduction starts phasing out for those who earn over $75,000 ($150,000 for couples), and phases out completely at $175,000 for individuals and $250,000 for couples, in the Senate version.

This Dem spin on this bill is not going to matter if these no tax on tips, overtime, and Social Security deductions get implemented. These are incredibly large voting blocs.

keep in mind cuts are for people who should not be getting this. If you are illegal and or if you are between 18-60 and able bodied. They are just asking you to volunteer or work 20 hours. Majority of people in the country are okay with this. I keep thinking if I was sneaking in another country the last thought on my mind would be how to get country I snuck in to give me things. Also would not think of asking USA to give me things if I was young and healthy. This is not about people who have legitimate problems because yes there are people from 18-60 who may not be well able to contribute. Also if you can’t find a job then volunteer a bit. How is this horrible?

This isn't what they are doing. It's illegal for undocumented people to get Medicaid. They know that. Most people currently on Medicaid work. Now, they will have onerous paperwork to do. The hope is that they won't keep up so they will be kicked off of Medicaid. It's a tactic. It's difficult for working people to take a day off to file the necessary paperwork (which is complicated).

Waitresses and cops will love it. What about receptionists? Pre-k teachers? Lots of low income people work in jobs that don't have tips or overtime.

Do we want people to leave those jobs to avoid taxes? That's not a good thing. More likely they will be mad that they don't benefit from these cuts.

Most people are not tipped workers. Major cuts to medicaid. Added $5T to the debt which means we will all pay more in interest. I make about $1M a year so I will get a tax cut. I don't need it. I benefit, but most people won't. Major tax breaks for the wealthy (I don't consider myself rich). Major cuts to clean energy which was creating thousands of manufacturing jobs and the cheapest and fastest to deploy energy. Subsidies for coal (this is embarrassing).

What’s really sad is that once enough people realize enough to go: Oopsie! — it really won’t be possible to put Humpty Dumpty back together again. While I agree with you therein lies the problem - the pain will take a while to feel enabling Trump to spin his bill as beautiful. While this is a terrible bill this is not the hill that Dems should be dying on now. They needs to come up with a clear consistent message of what they will be for if they win back Congress in 2026 and what they would be for if they win the executive in 2028.
