I am from Italy. Italian PM Meloni, an extreme right wing and a Trump supporter in the EU, is scheduled to fly to see Trump on April 17. Italian newspapers today have as the main news in large characters TRUMP SAYS EVERYBODY IS LINING UP TO KISS MY A$$. So now she looks weak and the Italian opposition is laughing/criticizing her for bowing to Trump and get a kick in the face as reward. even on her side people are not too happy. Trump is stupid, he even weaken his few allies. yes the leader of some desperate third world country will accept a public humiliation because they have no choice, but leaders of Countries like China, India and even the EU will not because they have their own audience to please.

But my suspicion at this point is that Bessent, Navarro, etc believe that they are somehow going to get some cut out of Trump’s “deals”. Makes no sense. It’s not how Trump rolls. And I’m not sure that countries are going to bother negotiating with him because he’s so fickle.
