Your Favorite Rolling / EA Colleges

Tell me about the school that gave your kid an admit in the Fall, and helped boost their confidence to know that it was a great option if more competitive applications did not work out.

I'll start. Pitt was this for my friend's kid. She actually ended up going and loves it. (I know that's a standard answer here, so bonus points for surprising gems!) Thank you.

There are good "where has your kid already been admitted" threads from early fall each of the past couple of years.

Maybe it’s a change for this year, but IU Bloomington is NOT rolling.

Minnesota, with merit and honors!

Minnesota.

I think they call it EA, but they issue decisions on a rolling basis. My son applied last Year, in mid October, and was accepted in about 2 weeks. They also gave some nice merit.

We visited, and it is a nice school. Strong for CS. My son seriously considered it, but decided on Pitt.

Great option though!

University of Oregon and Oregon State. If not rolling, they act quickly.

Why did he choose Pitt?

I think the only rolling admissions school my son applied to was Duquesne. I think he heard back from them 2-3 weeks later (by mid October). That was nice. We still had to wait for the FA award which came 2-3 months later.

As far as EA, he applied everywhere EA and heard from every school by mid January (most before XMAS). The only one that sent the FA award with the acceptance was Loyola MD and that is where he is going. Great merit money!
