Justice Alito senile?

Can he really believe his airline ticket was valuless? Can he really both believe that the gift was hospitality and that he barely knew the person?

Is there something in the water in the US, turning all our minds to mush? Even our supreme court justices cannot tell when they sound idiotic?

Largest generation in American history is aging. Their mental sharpness is declining rapidly, prone to emotional outbursts, easily swayed by fear, susceptible to misinformation, etc.

I don't think he's senile, I think he's just dishonest, and stupidly arrogant enough to think he can get away with it.

He is privileged and protected. His excuses don’t have to make sense. He’s untouchable.

His reasoning regarding the seat calls every single one of his decisions into question. It’s no different from a murderer saying that it was no big deal to kill someone because they would have died eventually anyway.

Brilliant legal mind…not.

He is just corrupt like his friend Thomas. After Dobbs decision Alito Notre Dame paid for him to go to Rome.

In his mind, it isn’t bribery because he is already going to rule for conservative billionaires with or without the trips and gifts, so he may as well be polite and accept them. The quo is already locked in before the quid, so it isn’t quid pro quo.

It’s not like Roberts is even going to timidly suggest that his boss should resign. Or that any Republicans will have any sense of decency whatsoever; they spend their days crowing about “owning the libs.”

It’s just make court reform a more palatable idea. Sounds less fringy all the time.

+1 The six in the majority have thrown open the Overton garage door.

What does that have to do with corruption? Everyone is aging and we have always had really old Supreme Court justices. These are some of the most important people in our country and they aren’t trustworthy. Sad.
