Does anyone else hate the new NVSL schedule?

We are just 1/2 way through our first week of morning practice and the second A is already this weekend and Divisional Relays on Wednesday…everything just seems off this year…. I don’t like it

Agreed!

Also agree. Especially since our team does not do a B meet the week of Relay Carnival.

I also hate the 2 week gap between the two relay meets. Can you imagine the drama when kids who are not on a relay this upcoming week are now faster than kids on that relay All Star relay week…with the one swimmer substitution allowance it is going to cause a lot of issues on many teams

Really? I think it’s fine. It’s nice to be done with everything in July and have down time in August.

There should not be any drama or issues here. The team that qualified should be the team that goes to All-Stars. Full stop. The sub should be used only if one of those kids can't attend. Totally irrelevant if the ladder changes later on.

I don’t disagree but the two week gap is just bad. This whole season is bad where you are having A meets before the school year is over. Move All Stars back a week to the first weekend in August. It isn’t a team event anyway so families can choose to do it or not without impacting their team

Team reps were surveyed and they preferred to not go into August.

Team Reps and Head Coaches do not like this schedule at all.

Former team rep. Old schedule worked when the public schools didn’t start before Labor Day, but now that they are starting 2 weeks before Labor Day, the former calendar also needed to be adjusted.

It definitely sucks.

I agree - I think most of the issues people have are related more to change in general, which is almost aways challenging to deal with - you need to have this schedule consistently for a few years for people to adjust and take advantage of what it has to offer. I'm sure in 3 years or so, most won't have this opinion anymore.

Blame the local school systems for coming up with terrible calendars that make the school year too long (looking at you FCPS).

I hate it as well. Kids are losing a full week of true summer swim so some people can go on vacation the first week of August. Both FCPS and APS are now on the same schedule so the NVSL should adjust accordingly. The relay move is just dumb
