Trump appears to have tried to overthrow our government to remain in power, disclosed information to the Russians in the Oval Office,. and repeatedly placed his own personal interests before that of the Nation he served.
Is he a traitor? |
| Yes, of course he is. It has been on the record since at least 1987, and knowing that, the GOP still put him into a position of the presidency and still defends him to this day. |
| I believe that the standard definition of "traitor" only applies during war time. Since no war is currently declared, he cannot be a traitor. |
Never stop MAGA Trumpers, never stop!
The "standard definition" of traitor is broader than the legal definition of treason. |

Article III, Section 3, Clause 1:
Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court. The terms used in the definition derive from English legal tradition, specifically the Treason Act 1351. Levying war means the assembly of armed people to overthrow the government or to resist its laws. Enemies are subjects of a foreign government that is in open hostility with the United States. Treason does not distinguish between participants and accessories; all persons who rebel or intentionally give aid to hostilities are subject to the same charge. |

It's like the founding fathers were thinking of Trump and his January 6 insurrection when writing the Constitution.
|
They were afraid of tyrants who flouted the law. |
|
If you believe that Trump levied an army on Jan 6, and went to war against the US government at the Capitol, then yes, he is by definition of a traitor.
If you believe that he gave aid and comfort (in the form of national defense information) to Russia and/or North Korea, and that these nations are enemies of the US, then yes, he is by definition of a traitor. I think these two actions of his could be construed as traitorous acts, but I understand that to others they might not meet that definition. |
There was a revolution on a 1.5 percent tax rate. |
By refusing to mobilize resources to quell the rebellion on January 6, Trump gave aid and comfort to those who sought to overthrow our government by force and stop the certification of the duly elected 46th President of the United States - Joseph R. Biden. |
He also fomented and organized the rebellion. He hosted incoming and current US Congressmembers as well as factions of the various militais at the White House on December 20th, 2019. He also organized the "stop the steal" campaign as well as the "fake elector" conspiracy. These three things together form the wall of the coup Trump attempted on our Country to maintain his presidency. |
| It would be disappointing if the DOJ didn't charge these crimes after its January 6 investigation. |
| Yes. |
| I think he is a complete moron who is so charismatic that he inspires the undying loyalty of other complete morons. He believes he loves the country...but the country he loves hasn't existed for decades. |
