STJ Stars

Does the Stars program go through 10th or 11th grade?

10th

There is a team of Rising 11th graders, but they may not be having tryouts for that team

Stars just started its high school program with the class of 2025 so that’s the oldest age group at this point. As PP said, they might not be having tryouts for that age group, though. Tryout info should be on their website.

unless they can keep the talented girls from leaving in HS for capital they will most likely be lower-level b teams.

There are plenty to go around in the 2027 class w BLC and 3 STJ teams. STJ is going to or already has lined up a stellar coach. Now if they could just unload SW completely.

Do most girls who try out for Stars make the team?

It’s getting more and more competitive year after year.

Probably now that they are buying or have bought MCE since they can barely field competitive teams and will take just about any player at this point.

Great program! If you’re DD doesn’t make Capital and you want great coaches, great facilities, great communication and organization along with top notch leadership who have great relationships with college coaches - give Stars a try!

They are unproven on recruiting they have the fist high school age team approaching that time now with the 2025s . Any coach that they keep from MCE is absolute garbage I speak from experience I had 2 girls there at o e time and if they keep the head of MCE on the best you can hope for is low D1 or D3 at best. MCE has had one good recruiting year the 2022s and that was due to the stoneridge coach who is no longer an MCE coach or their recruiting director.

MCE is a disaster on so many fronts.

Agree. It is hard to understand what St James was thinking with buying MCE. No quality teams, no trustworthy leadership, and no assets besides a shrinking mailing list. Given some of what has been written here and talk among town, you have to wonder if it even actually tarnishes the STARS brand by association.

I think when Kristen Carr is in charge, you'll be okay.
