Seems like at my child's school, everyone that applies gets into AAP. We're a center school btw and not under capacity. I only knew of 2-3 kids that didn't get in. |
We’re at a center and that’s definitely not the case. I think 4 of DCs class of 28 got in. |
I have no skin in the game; my kid are in AAP but your post is just meant to rile people including parents who are processing denials right now. I call troll or stupid or both. I’ll go with both ![]() |
Op here. Gosh, I am not trolling. Out of 15 people I know that applied, me and 2 others were denied. Meaning 12 kids got in. |
Ok then my apologies. There are a lot of arrogant parents on this board. We are also at a center school and under capacity. I don’t know the full universe but most people have volunteered to me that their kids did not get in, and frankly, I’m very surprised at some of these outcomes. I do think it’s a crapshoot because some of these kids seem really bright. |
In our center school last year, out of 70 second graders, maybe 20 got in. |
Op here. Our appeal was denied too. Will definitely try to reapply next year. My kid's just feeling a little left out since all her friends got in. |
What's your relationship with her teacher? GBRS matters more than test scores. |
I guess we know why your kid didn't get in, LOL |
You already know that there isn’t going to be a class of 2 Gen ED kids so why post this? It may feel like everyone else got in, but you know that’s false. |
At our school, about 30% get in for 3rd. By 6th, it’s closer to 40-45% of the kids in level iv. I didn’t do actual numbers though. This is a guesstimate. |
very school specific though... since only ~20% of the county is in AAP. Our Chantilly feeder school had 85 2nd graders. 13 got in, and almost all of them are center-bound rather than staying in LLIV. Not sure how many applied. |
That's not the norm. The best way is to check how many AAP and Non-AAP classes your school has in 3rd grade. We have 2 AAP and 3 Non-AAP classes. |
I heard this comment from my neighbour quite often, "lots of kids should not have been in AAP IV at all". She used to be a school teacher. |
Tell her she should have been a better teacher. |
