| Mom fail. I totally forgot to get a gift and graduation is tomorrow. It seems like just a few years ago when I came on this site to get info on daycare/preschool and elementary school age info. My brain is trying to process things. I've avoided socializing with friends and mentally preparing to move out of my house, trying to find a better job to help pay for college. All these things are floating in my head and only tonight did I realize that I didn't get my dd anything. What did you get your child? |
|
-some people bring flowers for DDs at the ceremony itself
-tech that would be useful at college? headphones? (my DD has some big over-the-ear ones for trying to study in the dorm) -gift certificate to the college bookstore (should be able to print on-line), or something else near her college? -if you have time you can swing by Tiffany they have simple initial necklaces if that's her thing |
| No worries, Mama! Cash is king and always appreciated! |
| Got her a Tiffany bracelet and some swag from her new college. Also a dozen red roses (picked up at Whole Foods). |
| I'm sure you've helped her with supplies for her dorm? Graduation festivities? I don't think parents have to get specific gifts, they provide so much support in this transition. |
| OP here. Thank you all for your responses. I thought other parents got their graduating kids something very notable. I didn’t want my dd to think that she wasn’t loved. |
| A college education, a furnished form and a nice note written in a card. |
|
Flowers the day of.
New laptop for college, not to mention paying tuition, room, board and books |
| ^^+1. Laptop+ tuition, room & board. |

You don't have to get you kid something but if you want to that okay too.
LMAO at people mentioning college tuition. Look, you don't have to get them a gift. But college tuition? I don't know about your family, but since I decided to have this kid, we expect them to go and graduate from college and I'm paying for it. |
| laptop and college bedding, plus a card with a meaningful letter about how proud we are of her. The only thing she'll actually receive on graduation day is the card and a cake. |
| A dinner out and college tuition (whatever you've comfortably saved for). |
| A letter encouraging/loving on her and I gave her a pair of earrings that were her grandmothers |
| Something to use at college + a photo book of her life from birth-graduation (delivered after I add the grad pics) |
Exactly what we did. If you wait a few weeks, Apple has an annual promotion where you get beats or AirPods free with laptop purchase. |
