Air Quality Thursday: Code Red?

Spouse is worried about the air quality for Thursday. Code orange tomorrow and predicted to be code red on Thursday. Does MCPS have policies for days like this? Some unofficial weather stations were measuring more than 150 today (which is the threshold for Code Red).

You can call the school and ask, but they might have the kids stay indoors all day. If you want to keep your kids home, you can also do that.

My kids and my husband all have asthma. We're staying home if it's Code Red.

Pretty much all stations in the area are measuring code red today. Seems like it should be indoor recess for the kids.

I do recess duty and I haven't heard from my school yet.

Gym isn't an option as there are PE classes during other kids' recess times.

I hope we do indoor recess at least.

I hope it’s indoor recess. I’m from an area that’s prone to wildfires. While it might not seem harmful to breathe this kind of air, but your lungs/airways will hurt for days after. I’m masking my kids (with good masks) for if they’re outdoors or if the windows are open.
