| With this shortage, where have you recently found Wegovy 0.5 or 1.0 in the DMV area recently? I just missed a dose and my munchies are returning... |
| considering getting it. how much have you lost and how long have you been on it? |
OP here. I have been on it for 8 weeks (4 weeks at 0.25 and 4 weeks at 0.5) and I easily lost 11 lbs. I started about 30 lbs overweight. I have had a wonderful experience on Wegovy. I can still eat whatever types of food want, but at reduced portions (I just get full faster), and the "food noise" is totally gone. Doc has recommended that I stay on 0.5 since I'm losing enough at this rate and no reason to increase dosage. |
| I called the pharmacy before I went to the dr to ask them what they can get in. They can see what is on backorder. Then I just let my dr know what strength I needed at the appt. Staying on .5 is great if you can get it. But if .24 or 1.0 is available that's better than nothing. At .5 I would not jump to 1.7. |
If you can stay on .5 and find it, that's great. I found the jump to 1 from .5 to be harder than starting or the first jump. |
hard as far as side effects? |
| We are Feds and easily get Wegovy from our mail order service. |
Yeah. It's the first time I've felt nausea. |
| Preston’s in Arlington has semaglutide. Same product but without the pen. |
Is that different than Express Scripts? Because they’re out too. |
| Try a chain (Giant, Safeway, Harris Teeter, even CVS) in a non wealthy area of your county. Yes, really - that's how I found it |
That is a compound and there are too many warnings against this to count. There is absolutely no guarantee this is semaglutide. That is under patent and the formula is not released. |
It’s CVS Caremark Federal Program. FEP |

I am using a physician wellness center and see a PA and dietician every other week (I have 100 lbs to lose). I got minimal effects from .25, and I had just picked up .5 when the Notice of Shortage came out and was scheduled to start .5 it in a week. Before I went to my next checkin a few days later, I checked with my (small community) pharmacy, and they still had 1.0 in stock. So, my dietician prescribed the 1.0 a day before I actually started the .5, to ensure I had continuity of supply. My insurance (FEP BCBS) covered the early fill because it was a dose change.
So, if you are stepping up on Wegovy (going .25 to .5 to 1.0 with a monthly increase), it’s worth asking for a very early fill of the next step up. It gives you plenty of time to get in line at your pharmacy and hopefully get the drug when it comes in. As it turns out, I’m still having cravings on the .5 (but have lost net 13 pounds and according to inbody, which includes a 4 pound muscle gain. I’m also eating approx 1200 cal, looking at my meals with a dietician biweekly, 100+ grams of protein a day and working with a personal trainer). I start 1.0 next week and it’s been sitting in my fridge for a month. Thank goodness. An early fill is a risk if you don’t end up going up in your dosing. But if you aren’t having side effect or great coverage at a lower dose, can be worth it. To me the bigger risk was not being able to access .5 or 1.0, and reversing 2 months of steady progress. When I saw my PA this week, she immediately asked if I had been able to get the 1.0. And said she was thankful I had requested an early fill when I did because a lot of her patients were a couple months or more in and unable to find low doses (And added: just don’t start the 1.0 early. Do the full 4 weeks on .5, which I am). After 1.0, I would step up to 1.7, has not had supply throttled. It’s hard to believe a reputable prescriber would allow you to go from .5 to 1.7. Mine is very insistent that I take all 4 weeks at every dose. Slow going, but I have a lot of weight to lose, so I’m in this for the long haul. I’d also suggest calling Costco Pharmacy. During the pandemic I had good luck getting medication that was on backorder everywhere else. You can use their pharmacy without buying a membership. |
This is great info. Just wanted to chime in that CVS Caremark will give you 90 day supply at a very good rate. I get 90 days Wagovy for $26 on FEP. It’s good to be a FED! |
