So our AART (fcps) just notified us that our AAP appeal was denied and she suggested a retake of the NNAT/COGAT. Are we allowed to retake both? |
I thought the AAP office supposed to send an email to you directly to inform you on the status? |
Your AART has appeal decisions already. Suggest reaching out to them. |
Interesting. I’m surprised they knew and told you the results. Did you ask? You get only one retake. You get to pick. |
How do you know this? |
May as well wait until next year and hope for a material improvement, since the appeal was denied. Also, use the summer to provide opportunities for better work samples, etc. |
Retake Cogat in fall |
FCPS only pays for one test retake. Usually, the CogAT is a better choice.
If you want to retake both, you can do so through GMU at your own expense. If the CogAT was above 132, I doubt that a retake would help. Instead, focus on work samples and behavior in class that would lead to a high GBRS. |
Also, you can wait until next fall to request the retake. Just let the AART know in early September that you want your child to retake the CogAT. |
I can’t believe they know already. Are the rest of us expecting emails June 9? |
Yep. Just eagerly awaiting notification of a decision that’s apparently already been made. I’ll never understand why FCPS insists on sitting on every test result/decision. |
Good luck to all of our children. |
OP here. I think the others may be trolls. I emailed the AART at our school with some Level 3 questions and she let it slip that our child was denied. Whether that's fact or not, I have no idea. Good luck to everyone! |
It doesn’t look like any of them are trolls, they were all just trying to provide information. |
Can you get a private retake sooner for $$$? |
