Great Salmon recipe for the I hate Salmon person

Anonymous
I’m trying to encourage my 80 year old Dad to eat more salmon. He said he hates it. I’d like to try a few new recipes to convince him. I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it.

Why would you want to make an 80 yr old eat something he hates? Just leave him alone.

This makes absolutely no sense.

If he's made it to 80, then he clearly knows how to feed himself.

I agree with the previous posters that I don't get why you're bugging him to start eating salmon at this point, but the way I make it for my picky kid:

Mix soy sauce, mustard, and brown sugar in a bowl. Line a baking sheet with foil, pour marinade over fish and then loosely seal it up with the foil. Bake at 350 for ~15-20 minutes depending on the thickness.

If neither of you like it I wouldn’t waste my time trying to make it. However, we all like pesto salmon. I use the frozen fillets from Costco ( no skin) marinate in pesto, then bake in oven approx 15-20 mins.

Get really good fresh salmon from a proper fish monger and marinate it in Trader Joe’s Soyaki for about 15 minutes and broil on low for 10-12 minutes.

I don’t like salmon AND as a bonus for you am also a picky eater! I sort of liked a teriyaki marinated salmon. Like, I wouldn’t request it, but I’d eat it again if served it.

Not OP but salmon is so healthy, especially for seniors. I think that’s a great idea.

I'm not a fan of cooked salmon but I love salmon sushi.

Salmon is one of many healthy foods.

I can get my non-salmon loving family members to eat it when I cook it like this:

Marinate in minced garlic and soy sauce
Then wrap salmon in foil with maple syrup (the good kind, not cheap waffle syrup) poured on it.
Bake at 400 for 15-20 min.

It’s got some salty and sweetness, and pairs well with a veg like broccoli over rice.

Just googled and found this similar recipe except this one also has Dijon.

The man is EIGHTY let him eat what he wants.

If he says he hates it, he does. I am not a picky eater, but I really dislike salmon. Even the scent of it upsets my stomach and eating a small bit just makes me feel a little off. This has been the case since I was a child.

If a family member intentionally made me salmon and did not serve an alternate—salad or vegetable and whatever carb is being served is just fine—I would really wonder what on earth was going on.
