Sad not to get into WES

Anyone else out there? It was our first choice.

Did you get waitlisted? Where are you going instead?

Will this information allow you to be helpful to OP? Or are you just being nosy?
Anonymous
If wait listed, call them.

Why so mean?

Because I see this type of question very often, and I wonder if the posters really have something to add--in that case, I think it would be nice to explain why having this information would help them to be helpful/supportive. Sometimes I think people are just gathering information for their own purposes. Nothing wrong with that, but I think it can be done more sensitively when addressing someone who has posted because she is sad/disappointed.

The OP was a quick, not much info. The second was also quick and consistent.
Maybe someone else who did not get into WES is trying to see where others go?

If 20:58 meant to be helpful, I apologize. I guess I am touchy because I have been on the receiving end of this type of question, and sometimes it feels like the questioner is picking at a wound.

OK, I understand, but the word "nosy" is a bit much.
We were rejected from a lot of schools. Fortunately, we did not have a first choice. We saw pros and cons to all of them, so we could not get hurt. I guess we protected ourselves that way.
Any way, WES is comparable to many schools in that area (Norwood and St. Andrews). And to be honest, I have not heard a TON of positives about WES, like I've heard about the other two I mentioned. I also have not heard much negative about WES.

I am really sorry. However, if you love it and you were waitlisted, keep calling. We personally know a family who finally got in in August a few years ago.

OP call back even if you weren't wait listed. This economy is making a lot of people reconsider even after paying the deposit.
Anonymous
This is what I've heard, but frankly I don't see any evidence of it so far. I guess we'll see in June.
Anonymous
Look, we've put our deposit down, but if come June things don't look good, we'll forfeit the deposit and call the public school.
Now, we do not have a spot at WES.

Do families really do this? It seems that if families are making the deposit they would have thought through the finance piece before making such a huge decision.

Things are changing fast, in the next few weeks, who knows?
