Fighting Photo enforcement ticket in DC - Use driver's name or name on registration

Anonymous
My wife and I own a car that only has my name on the registration. We received a stop sign photo ticket in the mail from DC, sent to my name. My wife was driving at the time. We are contesting it. The online adjudication form asks for name but it's unclear to us if we should use her name as the driver or my name as the person who the car is registered to. I sort of assume the latter but curious if anyone knows the answer. Thanks.

Did she not stop at the stop sign? I know that's not what you're asking, but on what grounds would you fight it? How could there be two sides to that story, unless your side is just contempt for the safety of DC residents?

(Used to REALLY bad Maryland drivers racing through my neighborhood)

I would put the name of the driver, as she is an authorized user (she's on your insurance, right?) and she was the one who was driving at the time the ticket was issued. But maybe I'm wrong. Or maybe it doesn't matter which name is on the form?

Unless you were in a funeral procession, pay it.

Put wife name. And just pay. Not worth contesting. I know it’s annoying.

Follow the speed limit, stop at red and yellow traffic lights and stop signs and follow the law and you won't have to pay a penny. See how that works? Also, they have you on camera breaking the law, how do you think you can possibly win?

It is irrelevant which name I'd on the appeal

I used to be able to win these in DC but didn't last time. The accuser is a camera, not a person. If there was a person, like an officer or DC rep then they have a case.

what if they used cameras to make dc safer by putting away the criminal raping, looting, murdering and car jacking?

Just pay it. The good news is that there are no points.

It literally costs nothing to not break traffic laws. I have no sympathy for people who speed and roll through stop signs and then whine about getting nabbed.

Theoretically we all agree with you. But some cams in DC are notoriously sneaky, because they photograph cars that do actually stop. There is one in particular that has attracted a lot of controversy in NW DC. Maybe OP's car was caught by that one.
