Disney shutting down Star Wars hotel

I am genuinely bummed. I'd promised my Star Wars loving boy that we'd go for his 13th birthday (two years from now) and I'd been saving up.

I wonder what they’ll do with the building. It’s already attached to Hollywood Studios. They could probably turn it into an enhanced character meal similar to Space 220, which would be a more affordable access point.

That’s sad

This seems utterly ridiculous to me. They put a ton into building that place and it’s been booked pretty well solid. Can they really be losing money on it? If so, why not raise the rates? I have a family member that went for a milestone present and loved it.

Their research probably shows that they wouldn’t get enough guests at the rates they need to be profitable.

I wanted to go so bad. Since it’s not a hotel, but a role-playing experience, I actually hope the concert it into a resort. Or at least an interactive restaurant.

It makes zero sense. If its not fully booked, reduce prices.

Such a shame. There’s so much interest in it, but it seems like there were two things holding people back.

1. The crazy high price.
2. The horrible Star Wars fanbase who craps on everything. They were ranting against this from the moment the early images came out claiming it looked cheap and fake. Turns out nearly everyone who goes raves about how amazing it is. The negative reviews online are from people who’ve never gone. Ridiculous.

It is a hotel. If it was booked solid you think it would stay open.

I don't know why they just don't lower the price. 5000$ a night is way out of reach for most people. They already have it built--charge 1-2000 a night and see what happens! Maybe it would be sold out completely.

So sad to see this happening! My family went in January and had an amazing time. We still talk about it several times a week and were dreaming about going back. It was an incredibly immersive experience that outdid our expectations. But it sure was expensive!

At least in part it has to do with DeSantis declaring war on Disney.

Wow I can’t believe they are closing it. It was too high of a price point for me - and I would imagine others. I would think they should reduce the price but idk I guess that’s why I don’t work there.

But it’s not just a hotel. You can’t book like 4 nights there. You’re signing up for a two night immersive role playing game. There was a lot of confusion in the beginning because people thought it was going to be a Disney resort. That’s what I mean by I hope they turn it into a resort.

I just sent the article here to my cousin and she said - I hope they don’t tear it down and just turn it into a regular hotel. Now I think that’s what they’re going to do.
